Do you know I think I missed my vocation in life demolition is great fun. No measuring, no fine work no thinking about just hit it with a bloody big hammer As a bonus I am hiring a mini digger to load the rubble on a skip as due to being surrounded by trees there is no easy access to the garden

nice to see you hard at work on the forums lol, as you can see i am currently mowing the lawn

I negotiated with the help of the slavedriver union steward that I am allowed  breakfast { a delicious bowl of gruel and a cup of rainwater } . I am  also only allowed to be whipped twice a day , sheer luxury

I use the Olympus 75-300 ii and Panasonic 12-60 lens on the OM-d-e- 5 mark iii without any problems. Both handle very well with the body. If I were going to use any lens larger than the 75-300 I would get the grip as others have suggested. Shooting with the Panasonic 12-60 on the OM 5 makes for a very nice combo.

Good to hear I know that their have been issues with some combos over the years

Not necessarily. Having read many recurring debates on this issue, I am convinced that there are two kinds of people in the E-M5iii world...those who think they need an accessory grip for big lenses and those who don't. I'm in the latter group, and the issue has come up often enough to know that I'm not alone.

I use my 300 Pro lens (plus MC-14) on my E-M5iii all of the time and am perfectly comfortable without an accessory grip. I sometimes use a monopod or sometimes a tripod with gimbal head or sometimes hold it by hand, and never have wished the grip was bigger.

Maybe the 40-150 f/2.8 Pro lens is at a tipping point where it's possible to hold the camera mainly by the grip when shooting with the lens unsupported, I wouldn't know, but I recommend trying the E-M5iii as is before buying additional gear.

I shoot with the E-M5 Mark III all the time. It has all but a few of the computational features of my E-M1 Mark III, but in a smaller size. Love using it with the 12-100mm F4 Pro and the 60mm f2.8 Macro. Awesome piece of gear to carry around.

I’m very much same as you. So I’d bought the Olympus grip. Now it can handle large heavy lens.

...is my 1Kg 300mm f4.5 OM Zuiko (35mm film camera) lens which I'll hike around with for hours handheld while mounted to my E-M5 III.

Yes, good advice. I’m sure the need for a grip depends on the details of how you use it.

I acquired my 5iii for travel (for which I use it slung via the strap lugs on a PD Leash, so a grip is irrelevant), and street (I always hold my street cameras all day in the hand on a wrist strap, and the 15 f1.7 is perfectly comfortable like that, while I get finger-ache after an hour or two with the 17 f1.2 fitted without a grip).
