Fuji x100f skin tones

Hey guys….

A few people have spoken about it… but I’m shocked at how bad the skin tones and film sims are on the Fuji x100f.

I was expecting a lot as everyone raves about the film sims. They are so overrated.

Any tips on how to get skin tones that don’t look like a mad woman’s custard?

Is this a SOOC Jpeg or processed RAW? What film sims are you using? This looks to be indoors under fluorescent lights? Maybe that has something to do with it?  Posting a full size image with the EXIF intact is preferable if you are having issues sorting image quality.

LOL

Set your NR (noise reduction) to a negative number. Experiment until you find a value you like, mine is usually on -2 or -3.

Film sims and noise reduction are unrelated.

You need to alter your settings. Skin tones can look plasticy with jpg and certain film sims.

For natural skin tones try to stick to the following film Sims: Pro Neg Hi, Pro Neg Low, Astia, or Provia. The first two may need a small boost in colour saturation.

Staying at low ISO also helps as well as accurate exposure and natural light. If you activate face detection the camera will expose for the face which helps to avoid underexposure. Also experiment with white balance, the AWB may be off sometimes so better to try a preset (you can do all this by reprocessing the raw file in camera).

When I used a X100F I never found skin tones to be a problem (what bugged me more was the 23mm lens 😂 )

Also, something to bear in mind is that Provia on the X100F generation cameras is a little on the cool/bluish side; I always went with Astia instead,

Ok I’ll give that a try 👍 I do shoot Astia mostly as I find it works the best, besides STD.

Yeah I’m with you in regards to the focal length 🙈 35mm is not my favourite by a long shot… wish it was either 28 or 50…. Even 40 would be better 😅

Thanks for the advice, I’ll give it a go 👍

This is SOOC Jpeg . I believe this is Pro neg high. I’ll find the file and see what the EXIF has on it. Thanks for the response

Ahh So your also getting the same issue. I really had high hopes for this camera. Shame it lacks in the colour department.

Fluorescent lighting .... bad

This image was shot under fluorescents as others have observed. The cure is quite simple, turn on your in camera flash, dial down the flash with flash compensation, start out with -2/3 and dial down more if the flash look dominates.  Fill flash is usually around -1 1/3 - 2/3rd's so that might work for you. The problem you are having has nothing to do with film sims.

I don't see it.

The first image by the OP looks like NR is too high. Try -4.

The second image looks fine to me???
