X-S10 Custom Settings?

Hey all, I'm the proud (and excited) owner of a new X-S10 which I LOVE using so far.  I want to make the most of the functions in the camera and I'm curious how you guys set up your C1 - C4 dial settings?  I've played around with it using some published "recipes" that I've found online, but I find they can be very situation-specific and don't produce the results I like most of the time.  I find myself just using the Fuji film simulations in place of my custom settings.  What I'd like to do is set up the custom settings, not produce a different looking image, but to have the camera settings optimized for different shooting situations.

For example, I'd like one setting to be set up for sports shooting, one for landscape, one for portrait and one for street, etc.

I'm not an advanced photographer by any means, but can make my way around the camera and do shoot in manual (or priority) most of the time.  I'm looking for advice on the best settings to use to set the camera up for those specific types of shooting situations.  Any advice would be great.  Thanks!

This is pretty much how I have mine set up. I only have two custom settings on it currently. I actually have 3 settings that I use if you count the default base setting because that’s what I use for my landscapes as I almost always shoot them in RAW.

As for the other two I have C1: Sports and C2: Portrait.

The C2 setting isn’t a hard and fast one for portraits in the traditional sense - it’s just a series of settings that I use as my base for quick group shots or photos of the family (FYI it’s based on a Kodachrome recipe).

I have a few settings I use for my sports but the one I absolutely must have set is High ISO Noise Reduction set to -4. Here in the UK good light is not always guaranteed so when shooting at high shutter speeds it’s not uncommon for ISO’s of 3200 to appear. My one criticism of Fuji is how they deal with NR on their files in camera so I much prefer to have none at all and deal with it in post. Indeed, I’d rather have noisy sharp shot than a cleaner but smeary one, especially when it comes to skin tones.

Re: X-S10 Custom Settings?

My settings are definitely not ideal (still working on it) and also definitely not suitable for everyone.

My C1-C4 is set for things that need quick camera setup. That is, no specific settings for landscapes, sports or city walks, because here I know in advance what I will photograph and so I have time to set up the camera in advance. But when I see a person (friend, family member, colleague, etc.) deserves a picture right now, there is no time to readjust a camera, because the rare moment of a good shot will disappear in the meantime.

I have C1 set to burst and single AF, C2 to burst and continuous AF and C3 to single shot with max ISO 800 for shooting with flash.
