Any experience with Laowa lens??

I’m interested in trying out some wide angle macro with my SD1M and was wondering if there are any issues using the Laowa K-mount lens on the SD1M?   Particularly wondering if the color will be fine and not “off”  like the older m42 mount lens.   I’m hoping someone has went down this path already and may have some answers.

thanks

I have no experience with the lens but recently had poor experience with fitting a K-mount lens to an SA-mount camera. After cutting off the aperture tab and filing down the plastic guard I found that the K-mount bayonet thread diameter was not enough to engage with the SA-mount bayonet thread. Same with two different K-mount lenses.

I know that mounts can vary and my SA-mount is on an SD9 known to be different to the SD1 mount. Others here have been more successful and could post more about that.

Also, the K-mount flange-to-sensor is slightly different to the SA. So Laowa distance marks will be a bit off and it may not focus to infinity.

I will not be trying K-mount again and will stick to my M42 Takumar lenses whose color is good enough for my purposes.

Thanks for the info.   I was just thinking if the Laowa even has an aperture tab since it’s completely a manual lens.   I’ve used k-mount lens with tabs removed on my SD10 before and mount worked perfectly.   I don’t think I’ve tried those lens on the SD1 to see if mounts have issues.   I guess I will have to inquire a little more before spending the money to try one out.

thanks
