Your X-E3 EVF/Eye Sensor opinion?

I'll start with my question, then provide some more detail as I've seen various discussions about this but none seem to really answer the question. Yes, I have googled this but the threads I've found are somewhat muddy and non-specific to this issue with this camera.

Q: Is it normal for the eye sensor switchover to EVF to take almost a second?

Example: I have my XE3 set up for "Eye Sensor." I place my thumb over the eye sensor (to simulate my face)  and although the LCD goes blank immediately, it's almost an entire second before the EVF activates. Has the same delay in "EVF Only + Eye Sensor."

None of my other Fuji bodies have this delay and thus the annoyance has caused me to not use my XE3 very much, although I really like it in almost every other respect.

I have the power management set to "high performance." I use original Fuji batteries. It makes no difference which lens is attached. I'd reset the camera and the software is up to date at v1.30.

Yes I'm aware of the workaround of covering the sensor as I bring it up to my eye but it would be nice if I didn't have to do that or tell someone to do that when I hand them the camera to take a photo.

I've considered sending the body to Fuji for repair but if this is normal behavior I might as well not bother. It is out of warranty and I'm not interested in paying for a repair only to end up with the same issue when it returns.

Your experience with your X-E3 regarding this is greatly appreciated.

Re: Your X-E3 EVF/Eye Sensor opinion?

Just tested on my X-E3 and I'd say it's about a second.  LCD goes off, and a brief delay before EVF is on.  If I take away from the sensor, EVF is out and again a brief delay before LCD lights.

I tested on my X-T2 as well, and the delay is about the same.  It's never bothered me on either of them.

Thanks for checking.

I don't experience this on my XT3 or XT30-II, . . . . seems instantaneous on them.

Just checked all my bodies out of curiosity. No accurate measurement.

X-E3 and X-T2 seem about the same, and I’d guess at marginally under a second.

X-E1 also seems about the same.

X100V is noticeably quicker, and X-E2 is the slowest of the lot.

Can’t say I’ve ever really thought about how long it takes, which I guess means they’re all fast enough for me, although these days I don’t tend to use the LCD anyway (but do have the eye sensor on so the EVF only powers up when it’s to my eye). The X100T trained me to ditch the LCD, because on the older hybrid finder models you didn’t only have the delay of the switch in display, they irritatingly flipped mechanically back to the OVF every time you took your eye away.
