Has anyone tested any option for remote control of R5c video. Looking for simple record and stop record for in studio work.

If there's anything like that for the R5, you might want to try that.

Just tested the Canon Remote Switch RS-80N3 to trigger the R5c.  Seems to work, triggering record/stop in video mode (also triggers shutter in Photo mode).

Re: R5c video remote control?

Further, it seems the Canon Bluetooth Wireless Remote Control BR-E1 is compatible with the R5c according to the Canon webpage
https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/wireless-remote-control-br-e1

Edit:  wireless currently works on R5c only in Photo mode

The Canon Infrared Remote RC-6 desn't seem to work (based on my tests).

And any wireless remote that uses the standard 3-pin remote port should work, under $30 on Amazon.  But it is too bad that the Photo mode bluetooth and WiFi solutions are disabled in Video mode.  Seems like lazy coding to me.

Seems like Canon just hasn't gotten around to implementing video wireless.

Re: R5c video remote control?

Hi currently use my R5 with the BR-E1 in video mode all the time. I use the remote to stop/start video recording, and I also use it to trigger focusing (like shutter button half press).

I was wondering if there's been any update on whether the R5C works with the BR-E1 in video mode?

Also, does the R5C feature shutter button half press in video mode?

Yes, I tried N3 wired remote and it doesn't work in video mode.

You have to set the shutter button to start/stop video recording for this to work on the R3. Perhaps same for your model.

The R3 can use the BR-E1 Bluetooth remote controller to start/stop video as well.
