Small Case / Pouch For X100V

I'm looking for recommendations for a small case / pouch for my X100V. It needs to be big enough to fit the X100V with adapter and filter attached but I'm not bothered about room for batteries and other accessories.

I'm going to Disneyworld next month and don't want to carry my Ona camera bag around so would like something that isn't too bulky and ideally can fit on a belt or has a shoulder strap.

Thanks in advance

ThinkTank Mirrorless mover - the 5 I think

Fits perfectly and with strap can be over shoulder, round waist or take off and use the bike loop. Comes with a rain hood. Always had a filter on and JJC round hood in front pocket I think. I have a q2 now which is lovely but do slightly miss the compactness of the x100 and would like the flip screen on the 100v. I used this with an x100f everywhere including long overseas trips (remember those!) and it was perfect.

I used this pouch/case when I only wanted to go out with just the X100V. Two side pockets, inside SD card pocket and enough room left over for a cleaning rag.

Side view. Actually more compact than it looks from the wide iPhone photo.

I use a Think Tank Stuffit:

It's small, and easy to carry around. Not designed for a camera, but my x100f and two extra batteries fit just fine.

Original Benzer leather zipper pouch

I use the “Original Benzer” pouch originally purchased for my M6. Unzipped it allows you to draw the camera to eye while the pouch slides down the neck strap out of the way. The camera is easily dropped back into the pouch when you’re not actively shooting.

Climbers Chalk Bag
5

If the Benzer isn’t to taste,

If I want a simple belt pouch I have a few to choose from. One of my favorites is a climber’s chalk bag — but make sure it’s a virgin. (Never had chalk in it.)

Mamut Chalk bag. X100V with Haoge Square Hood is safely tucked inside.

The pictured Mamut is on big side and rather deluxe. Purposely chosen for its extra pockets to stow batteries, lens cloth, conversion lenses, etc. The X100V will slip into most ordinary chalk bags too — at least all of them in my collection. The Mamut is “clipped” to my belt using a soft shackle but you can use an ordinary carabiner or method of your design. I can attach a shoulder strap using Peak Design Anchors if I’m not wearing a belt. Other bags may provide alternative methods of fastening. Most, if not all, will accomodate a thin nylon chalk bag belt. (Which can double as a shoulder strap.)

At times I use an ordinary “hip pack” (as I proclaim it to be every time my travel partner mutters the word “dad bag” or “fanny pack” under her breath). Ironically, my favorite soft “antiqued” brown leather “bum bag” was purchased many years ago as I “exited through the gift shop” the Indiana Jones ride at Universal Studios in Orlando. I realized I needed something to hold my jacket, glasses/sunglasses and Rollei Prego Micron camera as I walked through the park. I can’t speak for the leather — but similar sized bags are readily available.

“Classy” — Bike Handlebar Bag

Based on the OP’s criteria that Fossil duffle is huge… It would be the bag I carried into my room for a week, not out and about at my destination. If that’s what the OP wants it opens the door to a plethora of bags, packs, etc.… Domke… Think Tank… Peak Design… even my current choice for foolin around on boats, the Watershed Ococee Drybag. (I use it with a padded camera insert.) Most of them more functional and less, or at least no more, expensive than the Fossil. For Disney I’d prefer a backpack or a sling to a duffel, but I recognize there will be differing preferences. That being said, I interpreted the OPs wish to be they carry less, not more.

In the same vein, but sized more appropriately for Theme Park EDC, I pull another bag from my collection. This one is a locally crafted cotton canvas handlebar bag that can be attached to a belt or used with a shoulder strap. Mine is by Äventyr, but I suggest it more as a type than a specific choice. (Not that I don’t recommend it — it’s a great bag and I wish I had more opportunity to use it!)

Bike handlebar bag with shoulder strap. X100V is inside the main compartment.

The Äventyr has two compartments plus a rear zippered panel that conceals the handlebar/belt straps. The camera is is in the main compartment that also has three pouches that could be used for batteries, card wallet, etc.

If I was going to travel with this bag I’d consider leaving its shoulder strap behind, attaching a pair of Peak Design Anchors to the D-rings, and using a PD strap instead. Providing the option of leaving this bag in the room and slinging “just the camera” at times.

I would recommend small "over the shoulder" Patagonia Atom Sling

https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/patagonia-8l-atom-sling-backpack-21ptgutmslng8lxxxtrv/

Very comfy, weatherproof, compact but enough room even for my Canon R + phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses

I have the predecessor, the Patagonia Hawaiian Sling. Good bag. Great bag even. (Mine’s been to Burning Man many times and otherwise survived a life of casual neglect and abuse. I agree that the Atom slots nicely into a travel bag role.

However, it’s one of many that would serve nicely. Consider also the Peak Design Sling (3L or 5L), the Moment sling, the Peter Mckinnon bag that converts from sling to backpack (Don’t have it, and don’t need it, but I am intrigued by it), the Seal Line waterproof hip pack (my go to for on-the-water, dust and weather, recently complemented by the Watershed duffle) the micro light Sea-to-Summit backpack that rolls into a tiny peach sized ball, or the sling version of that pack that I don’t have… The list goes on and on. And on. Each serves a unique roll. Yet all are remarkably similar in function.

When it comes to bags there’s seldom, if ever, one definitive answer — and the same answers keep rising up every time the topic is introduced. I cited the Original Benzer pouch earlier because I think that it, or a similar product, is uniquely suited to the problem proposed by the OP.

But if not, I try to provide ideas rather than specific products because… when you get down to brass tacks, bags of one type are pretty similar to others of that type… and one bag (or bag type) doesn’t suit all.

In fact, one bag doesn’t suit me. Combined with the years I spent working for an outdoor retailer, the result is my bag full of bags (in active use) and bigger bag full of bags (waiting to be called back to service). Neither my neice or nephew has purchased a school bag or a piece of luggage in their lives. “Let’s see what Uncle jeff has laying around.”

I prefer ideas to specifics because often, maybe even most of the time, we can get by with something we already have. If not, I hope to spark ideas without sending anyone down my path of a “perfect bag for every situation.”

Because here lies madness.

Re: Small Case / Pouch For X100V

In your place, I would just look for a bag from another model, which will suit the x100v. It's very easy to order them online and usually they are not very expensive I would say. If you want a very cheap option, you could try stand up bags like these from interplas.com , they can keep your device clean and safe for a while until you find the bag that you need. I am using these bags for everything, so I know that they are very universal in use and can be useful for almost anything.

I like the AER City sling or the Bellroy Sling line, both are nice and slim slings without too much unnecessary padding that makes traditional camera bags looks so clunky, both can also be used as a regular sling without the camera inside.
