Sigma lenses compatibility with older bodies (X-E2)

Are the new Sigma X-mount lenses going to be compatible with older bodies? I've got the X-E2 (not planning to upgrade anytime soon) and I'm considering getting the new Sigma 56mm.

I shoot jpeg, so I'm mostly concerned about in-camera lens corrections.

Viltrox, Zeiss, Tokina, Samyang lenses work fine, new Fuji lenses work fine, I don't see any reason for the Sigma to be a different story.

The reason Voigtlander lenses don't work with older bodies is that because they are fully manual focus and manual aperture, they use the Fuji cinema lens protocols, which were only made first on the xt2 and xh1.

But all Autofocus lenses are compatible even with the xpro1, because they use the original autofocus lens protocols.

Ok, so I won't worry about autofocus, which is great.

But what about other corrections (distortion etc.)? X-E2 is not listed on the Sigma compatibility list

The list includes similar cameras (like X-T10). Is there any reason X-E2 might not work, while other X-Trans II cameras do?

The reason it is not on the list is that they can't test every single camera on the planet that's it, they didn't have X-E2 at hand. It isn't on the list with "this camera doesn't support this lens" badge, it is just missing from the list because they couldn't test it, xpro1 is similarly missing.

Corrections is a question of if Sigma bothers doing them. Sigmas whole thing is oversized lenses, that weight a ton because they are optically corrected.

Some manufacturers have included lens-optimization in their firmware, some haven't, so that is more up to the air.
