SD15 vs Fujifilm S5 Pro for bird photography

Both camera has a unique sensor(Foveon, Super CCD) and I want to try it out.

I tried to search the comparison, but almost nobody mentioned on how it does on wildlife photography.

What I found is that both camera won't do good on low light.

However, bird photography usually takes place under bright daylight so it won't be a problem.

Which one will do the best on bird photography?

The camera that has the best means of focusing on the bird, IMHO.

I think you're in a better position than anyone to answer your question. You just have to go out with both cameras and photograph some birds to see the results.

The Fuji can probably be used at a higher ISO setting, which will allow faster shutter speeds.

I hope you will post some examples.

My intention was to save much money as possible, but it seems like there is no answer without actual usage. Thanks!

I have an SD14 and a Fujifilm S5 Pro. I do not do bird photography but can tell you that the S5 focuses faster and more surely. Having said that there isn't a lot in it. The SD14 can resolve things much more but the S5 has a better color palette IMHO.

Re: SD15 vs Fujifilm S5 Pro for bird photography

I never used the Fuji; the SD15 focusing is much better than the SD14's, I have both. I go frequently to Shuttleworth shows and only use the SD15 for flying aircraft. Also the SD15 has 11 frames memory, while the SD14 is only 6.

However, I would not buy the SD15 for flying birds, the focusing is simply not suitable. I have however shown here photographs of those shows.

The lens I use is the original 70-200mm (no macro, built 2005) with a 1.4 extender. This setup may be lighter than your lens, that is also a factor. If so, I hope you have Arnold Schwarzenegger type biceps!
