First time I am using 60fps for the entire video as with the GH6 is just a stroll in the park shot in Vlog

Very windy so residual shake on some of the very long shots

Nice work looks good, alas video does not seem to get much of a response  here

I like it a lot. And to my eyes 60fps seems like the ideal wildlife framerate. It is leagues better than 24 and also noticeably better than 30 although I don't mind 30 that much.

Very nice, love the somewhat muted colors and crispness without over-sharpening. Were you using one of the 60p 422-I or L formats?

Great stuff.

Beautiful light, and i especially like the opening scenes, and the setting with the deer in the pond area.

Tricky air quality conditions for telephoto video use at those distances, due to the frost evaporating, but very little degrading in these clips.

The audio gives a nice representation of the scene. Is it directly from the GH6, or an external mic?

nicely done.

Thank you a lot of people like birds and those are no doubt my biggest challenge

I hope I can progress

That’s exactly my thought

I really only started 60fps with the GH5M2 but was only long gop so I used it for potential slow motion

With the GH6 offering 60fps all i and 120fps i have gone a step up

to my eyes looks both crisp and fluid

In the scene of the pond the warm sunlight has just melted the frost so I got heat disturbance but decided to leave it in anyway

for audio i use a rode video micro the camera has now 96khz higher quality audio and the results are impressive

Very nice!  Were these shots handheld?

4k60 has become my default since getting the gh6.  The quality of this mode and the 4k120 were factors in deciding to go ahead and sell my S5, although the cropped 4k60 on the S5 was wasn't bad at all.

No all tripod there was wind so I had to leave the stabiliser on as at 400mm my set-up is not so sturdy

I shot some 4K 120p 10-bit 420 last night in my studio @6400, with quite nice IQ, little noise seen fairly close to my studio 43" 4K60p TV per HDMI. The GH6 will downconvert on-the-fly all it's exotic formats to whatever the screen will accept. My VLC player & Win 10 won't even begin to digest the disc file.

Another interesting thing I wonder if you've noticed: In AF-S mode, and every 4K format I've shot in with both G9 and now GH6, including the p120 last night, there's smooth focus transitions while slow panning, as well as quick from spot-to-spot - a bit quicker and more accurate than in AF-C. This is with the Pan. 12-35/2.8 @ 2.8/35mm. Also with the Oly 12-100 @ 4.0/35mm, but a little less accurate and occasional focus wobble. A point for DFD?!

Re: Wildlife Daily Roll 4k60 fps GH6 and PL100-400

On birds work I only focus at the start of the shot and use depth of field to get by because I am 100 meters away

If I was in a zoo with the animals close and less depth of field I would probably be more careful

When I shoot deer instead that are large in the frame and closer I use autofocus a lot

Conditions also make a big difference I shot 3 videos with birds and the first looks better because it was just a clean day, the second had fog and looks not sharp this last video had heat disturbance as the frost was transforming into vapour.

They are not studio conditions by a large amount!

When I use SAF I tend not to refocus during the shot as I do see a wobble. I stop refocus and start over if I am not using autofocus

The reality is that there is no actual camera that is able to follow a fast moving subject in video with autofocus even at 60fps. Slow moving targets like deer no problem, birds not really a chance if you think that even photos at 20 fps have lots of blurred images why would you expect the camera to have it all crisp in video?

I noticed the S-AF "focus-follow" effect with the G9 a year ago shooting 4K rendered in 1080p, over a range of only several feet to 30-40' in a walk-through video I did of my wife's garden last Spring for her 80th B'day. Though it looks a bit blurry with the too-fast panning, pausing it shows sharp focus almost invariably. I did re-focus a couple of times only. Set to one of her favorite compositions - a languid ballad from a local composer/pianist's jazz group.

Lovely garden!

Thanks to Louise! I did install the three-level, eight-station drip irrigation system, but I was a youngster of only 72 back then in '12!

I watched the video again and damn, it's hard to watch the panning parts. Needs re-cutting to stills for the most part.
