Just bought a used X100T, FRAUD ?
1

Hi,

Just got a used X100t, two thing bother me -

1. The lens internal aparture looks weird, is it broken ?

2. Camera won't turn on. The charger blinks green when I try to charge it. (Bad battery)

The second thing is probably a battery issue - but the first pne bother me a lot,

Does the lens aparture look like that or is the a frraud ?

Thanks a lot,

Sam

Was this a fraud ?

Hand to hand with a person. Cash.

Haven't noticed the lens issue when got it,

The battery - as he claimed - 'just needs to be charged'

I just grabbed my X100f and the shutter looks just like yours. I'll let you do a little homework on your camera, but that model, all X100 cameras have a "leaf shutter." This is good news but I'll let you do the necessary homework. So your shutter is different than most cameras.

Here's a copy and paste for you:

"The Fujifilm X100 is a huge draw for photographers that are looking for something a little different, but what makes it special has largely been missed in recent years by reviews unfamiliar or unaware of its leaf shutter and built-in ND filter."

Google leaf shutter.

Why would anyone purchase a used camera with the private seller stating that ‘the battery just needs to be charged’….? Would you want to be able to turn the camera on and snap a few captures?? You could have even tested the sensor for dust - it’s a 10 second exercise. I’m just stating the point as a reference item when reading this thread.

Good questions but other things to consider as well when purchasing a used camera in the setting you experienced. Good luck and please let us know how it works once the battery is charged up.

This archived web page from the first iteration (but same lens) is something you might find instructive https://web.archive.org/web/20160316192707/http://www.finepix-x100.com/en/story

The X100T needs a battery in it to turn on. But if you have a power source plugged into USB, it should switch to using that power source after a moment.

When the camera is turned off, if you have a power source plugged into USB, the battery should charge from that USB power source.

Re: Good news - not a FRAUD

When a battery is severly depleted of charge a smart charger may reject it, ie the fast blink error. Id try the usb overnight to see if that helps. I have in the past just kept inserting the battery into the charger and it finally after a few insertions took off. Some times its just dead. A bright note Adorama has a special on a Greene extreem charger and 2 batteries W126 for less than $30. I had a swollen one that needed to be replaced so I lucked out.
