Travel - Two pancakes at Hamburg: X-E4 + 27 ii (+ 18)

Dear all,

I had the chance to visit Hamburg for two days... a wonderful city and a good place to be. With me - the X-E4 and the XF 27 II + my beloved 18mm. I want to see how the 27 performs as an all-around compact lens.

The size is perfect, it fits even in the smallest bag. With the Squarehood, it looks also quite sexy. The X-Trans sensor delievers, of course, as expected.

In most cases, the 27 works pretty fine. It is really close to how I see. In some cases, I cropped the pics, in some, I worked with stichting. Sharpness is great as far as I concern, colors are like they should be. Given its compact size, its the perfect travel lens. It was relaxing to have the 18 with me, but in the end, the 27 did it. (a 14/23 combo would have been to wide for me)

I really like the 27 also. I'm off to Scotland in a little over 2 months from now and expect to use the 16-80 most of the time but I am going to bring tne 27 along and see if I  can manage some days with only that one. I feel I  can't be off on vacation without a good zoom range, but many times here at home I will go into Manhattan with just one lens, many times the 27, and loved the results. So I  will go with both this time. What a wonderfully small package it makes.

BTW, I was very impressed with your photos.
