DIY T8I (850D) Battery Grip Modification

DIY T8I (850D) Battery Grip Modification. Took matters into my own hands. Purchase a third party battery grip for real cheap that fit the canon T7I model. I used a dremel 3000 rotary tool to cut the dummy part of battery that fits into the camera (you can also use a hack saw). Presto magic!! A battery grip that fits my T8I and my hands. Don't care about the buttons working just needed the grip. Bonus- extra storage for back up batteries on location. See photos below.

third party grip prior to surgery

using Dremel 3000 to cut dummy battery and hot contacts

cutting-sanding-screw replacement

Shazammm!! T7I battery grip to fit T8I. Bonus- extra spare battery storage for location shooting.

Fits like a glove.

Regards,
There is always something to shoot/snap, you just have to know how to do it and have the right gear.

My apologies if I'm asking a dumb question, but does the shutter button, main wheel, etc.,* work as usual? I'd love to have a battery grip for my T8i (like I did for my 350D) but obviously that's not quite possible.

* Actually I'm not sure exactly what buttons and controls are present on a T7i grip. My 350D grip had a shutter button, main wheel and a couple of other buttons (maybe AF lock, etc.) as I recall.

Never mind my question - I somehow overlooked this sentence in your post: "Don't care about the buttons working just needed the grip."

Nice. Very resourceful.

Extra battery storage sounds useful.
