X-E2: shutter noise/vibration?

As part of my transition from m4/3 to Fujifilm, I just picked up a used but absolutely pristine X-E2 (black). It looks nearly unused, and everything seems to function properly, but one thing concerns me.

After the shutter fires, there is a very slight vibration and noise as it resets. Putting the shutter on Bulb shows that the sound/vibration definitely occurs AFTER the shutter has closed, so it doesn't affect exposure or image sharpness. It reminds me a bit of the vibration that would occur in a motor-equipped film camera after the exposure was finished.

My X-T4, in comparison, is nearly silent and completely vibration-free. Unfortunately, I have no other Fujifilm models to compare to. None of my m4/3 cameras have exhibited such behavior.

Again, it's not affecting exposure or image quality; it just bugs me. Is this normal behavior for the X-E2?

I'm guessing that yes, this is normal behaviour. Just testing my X-E2S with 1" shutters, it shows this too. None too loud though, and not all that different in character from the shutter-reset on an E-M5.2 Olympus, which is the only camera I have around to compare it to. I'll wait to see what response you get next.

Same when I had my X-E2S. It’s normal.

Normal.

I have an X-T20 and an X-T4.

The X-T4 has an incredibly improved butter soft smooth dream shutter. I mentioned it in my X-T4 review. When I use my X-T20 now, having made the X-T4 experience, the X-T20's shutter appears clunky.

Regards,

Martin

Same for me. My X-E2S shutter sounded a bit like scissors closing and opening again. The X-T4 just softly lops off time.
