Small and usefull great lens.

I bought this lens mainly to photograph objects in museums. My wife needed one that was not too heavy and offered excellent quality. This one had it all. The advantage of LED lights is that they are one of the best options you have for macro, although museums do not allow them to be used.
The quality of the photographs obtained surprised me, as well as its easy handling, its ergonomics, size and its beautiful line.
I also agree that it is a lens that works very well for macro, food products (or others), urban photography, for travel, due to its low weight.
In my opinion, it is a highly recommended lens.
I wouldn't say it's the best lens for the EOS system and APScs, but it's certainly perhaps the most versatile and comfortable of all Canon's. A "swan song" in lenses for the EOS system.
Unfortunately, did the evolution of systems take you by surprise? (oh no! Canon's designers already knew what was coming, but decided to pull it off) and it was doomed. So it was discontinued very quickly.
His alter ego came out with a good base, albeit without the LED lights on the Canon RF 35mm F1.8 IS STM Macro series. Users of the R system, with the adapter, if they do not need a larger aperture, can make the Canon EF-S 35mm F2.8 Macro IS STM a good ally and they will not feel disappointed, on the contrary.

Of course if you fit the EF-S 35mm 2.8 macro to an R series body, with the adapter, you will have to accept that it will be used in crop mode as it is not a full frame lens.   That means it will have a smaller field of view (equivalent to 56mm), and a greatly reduced number of pixels (eg 11MP instead of 30MP on an EOS R body).

So perhaps not the best choice, unless you are happy with these limitations.

Obviously it has to be used in crop mode! In the case of macro photography, it is not a problem when we focus on photographing an object and forget about the rest of the area.
No, it is not equivalent to a 56mm in FF, it is still a 35mm. The view is cropped and enlarged but the depth of field is still exactly that of a 35mm and is not the same as a 56mm. It may not be a determining factor, but the difference exists.

It is not the best option, but it is a good option if you already have and do not want to buy the more expensive Canon RF 35mm F1.8 IS STM Macro. As the EF-S 35mm is discontinued. and since not many units have been sold, there are very few second-hand offers and logically those who buy an R system, and are looking for a 35mm macro STM, will buy the RF35mm
