There is always something to shoot/snap, you just have to know how to do it and have the right gear.

Re: Small but ok

What did you trade it for?  Of the Rebel series, the Canon T7i (800D) and Canon T8i (850D) cameras are much better.  The Canon T7 is so much of an "entry" camera, that there's a huge amount of better choices.  I also own some mirrorless cameras. The mirrorless that I have are nice with the small lenses, but at the moment I prefer my DSLR cameras.

Re: Small but ok

I had the 1200d (a couple of generations back from the 4000d). It was okay, but only had a 3fps burst rate. I know have a 600d (3.8fps) and am thinking about upgrading soon, possibly to a 7d (8fps!)

I still have my 40D but I’m mostly using my 7D because the 40D is more limited by its lower ISO capabilities. The 40D is very capable at many things but not a good birding camera.

Re: Small but ok

Best of luck mate!  I've been lucky getting some good ones  had my fair share of rubbish too though, bought a 5 D classic advertised as clean   yeah right   rear lcd screen scratched and paintwork all scuffed from the bottom plate   spots on the sensor   right back to the dealer  it went!  found out it was supposed to go to get the sensor cleaned

"bought a 5 D classic"

How loud was the shutter on that 5D compared to our 40Ds?

I'm keeping my T7 for those times when I want the extra-persnickity rez of the 24mp sensor.

Otherwise, I can't put the 40D down.

Re: "bought a 5 D classic"

to tell you the plain truth I did not pay much attention to it  I did not have it that long till I traded it.   i  had a couple of actuations before it was traded   possibly the same as the Nikon D100!  not that loud.

"..I did not pay much attention to it.."

Just means you're not neurotic about it like I am.

Re: "..I did not pay much attention to it.."

I did  try out the shutter mode program on the 40D  apart from the live view mode options it was pretty good  I do a lot of  astronomy pics at night and the last thing i need is beeps and loud shutter clunks  (i have an old nosey neighbour with ears like a Fox who came out the back door at the slightest noise! )  so this did help a lot.   as opposed to the Nikon D3x which I used to use a lot  for the back garden wildlife and the 80-400 lens  attracted a lot of attention and did make a loud shutter clunk .

Re: "..I did not pay much attention to it.."

Yeah, I tried those modes, too. Nice and pretty advanced for 2007, but I never use Live View to shoot.
