Nice colors! I’m looking forward to any news about the GH6 sensor capturing more details than the 20mpx sensors.

#1 & #4 really impress me. I suspect it is the photographer that makes them so nice, not the GH6 (but that don't hurt).

Does the GH6 have decent video?

How did you get your GH6 so soon?
1

Nice shots. I like the kitty cat one the best.

I have pre-ordered a GH6 from Amazon USA. The ship date is suppose to be March 25th. I've seen this date on a number of websites selling the GH6. How did you get yours so soon?

The reason I ask is that I'm leaving on a bird photography trip in the Florida everglades on March 28. It would be great if my camera arrived a few days before that so I can practice with it before I leave. If I can get the GH6 sooner from another source, I'll cancel my Amazon order and order from a distributor that can deliver sooner.

The fourth shot is a high key with speedlite so there is something of mine but the first is just point and shoot

When im showing off a cameras ability i always shoot highly technical images, i suppose everyone's approach is different.

Not sure what is a highly technical image but I had around half hour to go for a walk

Interceptor121 -

Thanks for clarifying the shipment situation in the UK vs USA.

I'm looking forward to more of your posts with the GH6. I am hoping that it will be a significant improvement over the G9 for still shots.

Since I want to stay with m4/3 for stills photography, the next step up for me is either the GH6 or the OM-1. The price is about the same, but since I have mostly Panny lenses, I think it's a good idea to try the GH6 first. I'm hoping for significantly better AF and low light performance over my G9. I've got my fingers crossed.

Thank you

Very interesting shot.

I read that from 16Mp to 20Mp, noise should naturally be worsen slightly because of the increased pixel count.

However from the ISO3200 shot, the noise indeed is still under excellent control (par to the ISO3200 of SOOC JPG from GX85/G85). If no special NR been applied in post, it is much better than my expectation.

Love the cat shot.

If everything else is identical but the 20 is a Sony sensor many years newer than the 16 (back when advances were more dramatic) - and that is far from the only significant change for noise handling.

I fully aware of it of course. But since noise on higher ISO has always been my key concern (a key criteria for me to consider upgrade) and so it is where I would look at it in addition to other IQ related aspect. I hate to upgrade for more pixel but eventually need heavier NR to deal with the noise issue. YMMV.

Comparing among GX85/G85 vs GX9/G95, real live samples I saw had more noticeable (worse to my standard) noise and it was explained by many that it should be a matter relating to increased pixel count, if not from processing.

Grade to see OP's sample looking very acceptable to me.

The role of the pixel size is being discussed here on DPR:

Help me understand the role of pixel size

You didn't read enough. It's a myth. There is only more noise when you view at 100% magnification because you are zooming in further. At identical magnification, noise should be roughly equivalent, except the noise on the higher MP sensor will be finer because the pixels are smaller. If you resize the 20MP image to 16MP, the noise should be roughly the same.

There will be more pixels that are noise on the higher sensor, but there will also be more pixels with real detail.

Resolution increase vs Pixel Noise

When you look at SNR smaller pixels improve resolution and therefore improve Image SNR

however at pixel level SNR may deteriorate more than the resolution benefit

As long as the pixels are not too small the resolution benefit may beat the snr drop at pixel level

those images are jpeg out of camera
currently there is no raw support except silkypix and I can’t manage to find the noise reduction settings in there!
