Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Problem...

Hi All.

After some 3 years of flawless operation, my phone suddenly just started to re-boot. It didn't even get to boot fully, just repeated after breaking off some way through. I finally managed to switch it off, and some time later tried to start it again.

I had varying success, sometimes even booting to the home screen and then it would  maybe reboot from trying to open an app or just for no reason.

From looking online, there's nothing that I have found conclusive, but I suppose this can happen to any brand phone, so I'm asking what people can tell me about it.

As a result, I had to buy a new Nokia G50. It's bigger and IMO the operation is not as "clean and straightforward" as any other phone I've had (and quite a few), but I'll get used to it. Of course, the BIG advantage is that I'm no longer stuck on Android 6 and now have Android 11 on the G50

My only other bugbear is how to restore my Whatsapp chat history. I backed it up, both to my Google acct and to my hard drive. - Neither works

TIA

Clear the cache on your first phone.  If that doesn't help, do a factory reset or flash the BIOS.

Thanks, Robert. I did the first - managed to, that is - but I doubt it will be stable enough for a factory reset. As for flashing the BIOS, I'll have to look up how.
