D500 - Just goofing around at home
2

Hello folks, got my D500 just a few days ago. Yesterday morning I finally had the chance to spend some quality time with it (pesky job, always in the way of photography... )

The weather was not exciting, so I went around the house looking for interesting subjects.

All pictures taken with no flash and whatever ambient light was available in that room. I pushed ISO more than I should have, but if not pixel peeping I'd say the results are not bad.

Lens is the good old 18-105 workhorse of D90 kit memory.

I get it.

I love your enthusiasm!

At least there are things you can do with a camera, indoors, on a rainy day ... a fishing rod ... not so much.

Keep Shootin'

Wonderful!

Of course, what you are doing flies in the face of those who pretend this camera is only good for Birds-In-Flight, but I love it

Birds In Flight??!! I can do those too, just of a different kind and not yet with the D500

Below a few "birds in flight" I caught with my trusty D90 and 70-300mm. Can't wait to put the D500 to the task!

Air Force Thunderbirds - F16

F-22 Raptor

The legendary P-51 Mustang!

I do not have at hand the original files, so pardon the quality, but, well... you get the idea.

Hey Capn' ... Those are great!

I'm a USAF veteran, and love everything about airplanes. Love the airshows with the Blue Angles or Thunderbirds, the old planes and the TORA TORA TORA exhibition. The new ones F-22, F-35 are fantastic, and seem to defy science.

Its getting late, or I'd go into the rabbit hole (external drives) and find a few, but here is one from this year.

Some old "Defenders of Liberty."

I think I was shooting some jets right before this shot, so forgive the frozen props. My bad.

Cheers,

Arnie

Re: D500 - Just goofing around at home

Thanks for your service, I salute you!

Love the old WWII birds, as a kid I was absolutely fascinated by those machines and the brave men who flew them.

A B-17, B-29, what looks like a PV-1, not sure about the other, a B-25 or 26?

At the airshow where I took those pictures the F-22 was insane. A picture cannot possibly do justice to the capabilities of that airplane.

Anyway, good stuff! Thanks for the comments:-)
