One year with my first prime lens - XF35 F/2

Hi everyone,

I've stumbled across this forum some time ago and I really enjoy it, so I thought I might share my experience as well.

Today marks around one year since I bought my first ever prime lens, the 35 Fujicron.

I'd bought my Fuji camera - the XT-30 - about a year prior, with the 18-55 - and wanted to challenge myself and to improve by using a prime. I decided on the 35 after much debate (and after reading threads here ), and even though it took me some time to adapt to it, it's been with me everywhere ever since.

Here are some shots taken throughout the year, in no particular order - all shot with this lens, and straight out of the camera.

Comments and criticisms are most welcome - I'm always striving to improve

I really debated between this lens and the 23 at time and I feel I made the right choice - it's been incredibly fun shooting with it and I hope to take many more pictures with it this year.

Hi.

Yours is a great experiment with nice results. Limiting yourself in this way really makes you think about the process of photography.

My choice for a first prime was the 23mm. I like the slightly wider view and the fact that it is still virtually distortion free, even in raw. That makes it a great lens for stitching, if needed.

regards and happy shooting,

André

Thank you André!

You're absolutely right - the limit frustrated me at first, but I've grown to love it. Really makes me think before pressing the shutter button.

I'm sure the 23 is fantastic is well - what solved the debate for me was that I'd previously shot mostly at 18 with my 18-55, and I wanted to go further out of my comfort zone.
