Problem with big files on Canon R3?

Hi,

I have the following problem with my new Canon R3 and I think that this is due of the size of the file(s).

1. Shot a big video on the CFExpress Card ένα (mine was/is 4,44 GB)

2. Connect the camera to PC via USB

3. Attempt to download the above video

Expected:The video shows on the computer and on the card as 4,44 GB

Actual:The video is 0 (zero) bytes

Note:If we use the in-camera function „Copy Files” and we copy the file to an SD card present on the 2nd slot, then we can see and download the video correctly - all the 4,44 GB.

What is happening?

The camera has the latest firmware: version 1.1.1

most likely due to the card format and files over 4GB. FAT32 has a 4GB limit.

try a card reader.

Similar experience here with my R5. Luckily my CFexpress card came bundled with a card reader.

Thanks for the info!

But from your experience it seems that camera's USB subsystem (and not card's format) has this limitation.

How come?

I had to upgrade my MAC OS then Lightroom to the latest to enable the ability to work with a few of the new file formats. Would behave the same way. Could see the file size but Lightroom or other image editing apps would not even recognize it's existance.
