It says on the page that "On Feb 15th we will have a series of exciting live online events to introduce the new camera. There will be presentations by our technical experts, interviews with OM SYSTEM Ambassadors and Q&A sessions." Also, "On Feb 24th we will have OM SYSTEM Day with follow up events - More information coming soon."

Currently in the timetable I see only "first look" type events, but I guess they will add other ones.

The page itself looks really bare-bones though, hopefully all the work has gone into the camera.

But what is cool is that they have multiple session for different languages, a nice local touch.

Wow, only a week to go, 7 sleeps.

My understanding is that whatever they have will be shown in the online presentation for the CP+ show on the 24th.

The 15th is just to steal the thunder to Panasonic GH6 which actually should come out on the 22nd if you look at Lumix instagram feed and be at CP+ on the 23rd February

Amazingly a week away and no real good leaks. Just rumors that debate if it is going to have a 20MP Stacked Sensor or a 24MP BSI sensor.

Looks like all these people already have OM-1 WOW camera. That shows a lot of care and planning for this live interaction, specially according to region and time zone.

Maybe they decided to release the information earlier than the 24th since CP+ was cancelled.

To be fair, Panasonic doesn't have to really prove themselves. Their camera division hasn't been given to JIP remember.

The opposite OMS has to make a point

hopefully they have prepared well and have a solid product with decent video features

If memory serves me OM horned in with an announcement on Panasonics anniversary celebration a month or so ago so I think I'll go with Interceptor's take on this.

I really doubt that either manufacturer cares that much about the others announcement. The cameras are almost certainly aimed at very different audiences.

I have significant interest in the new OMD camera. If Panasonic was releasing an updated G9, that would also be of significant interest.

I have no interest in purchasing a GH6 camera which will almost certainly emphasize video over CAF performance for still photography. If my interest were primarily video, I would be far more interested in the GH6 than the OMD camera.

In person, you can see and handle a new camera. Once the event is only online, what advantage would there be in waiting, if you are ready to release the camera?

I never had the impression this was a physical presentation, I all along thought it was an online event

The major component of CP+ was in-person at a large venue called Pacifico Yokohama. That stands canceled. The online events were a smaller part and those are still on. You have to register for that on the CP+ website.

Something I noticed is that hardly any of the presenters are bird photographers. If you want to showcase improved AF, you'd want someone like Scott Bourne, methinks. Although Jari Peltomaki is a bird photographer, I'm not sure how helpful it would be for that to be an event in Finnish and not English.

This doesn't imply anything, of course. It probably has more to do with schedules and who knows what features they really want to emphasize ...

Wildlife photography in central and western India, and the Pacific Northwest. Mostly Micro Four Thirds with some Nikon F.

I would agree if OM decided to forego video in the WOW and Pany stills in the GH6. That isn't going to happen so I expect both do care about the others offering. Frankly, they would be foolish not to care.

As for which announces first in the next few weeks, yeah... I don't think it will make a smidgen of difference in sales of either. I just thought OM's play during the Anniversary was a bit rude. Business is business, and I understand that, but even a mild slap is still a slap. :-)
