EOS R not following remote timer

Hello,

I was trying to get some long exp shots to stack later. The camera is mounted to a star tracker. I have the Aodelan WTR-2 Wireless Timer. I've tested it before and it seemed to work fine. This time, I was set up for ten 2min exposures with a 15 sec interval.

When I hit start, the camera does its own thing- 4 rapid shots, a small delay, another shot and another one- sometimes a 30 sec exposure etc. I actually ended up turning the camera off and had to unplug the wireless receiver from the remote control port.

The timer on the remote itself is still counting down like nothing has happened. Is there a reason anyone can think of as to why my camera seems to be doing its own thing?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Some basic set up notes: Bulb mode was on. Batteries fully charged. Manual focus. Single shot. Canon EOS R with RF 100-500 lens.

Thank you,

Mike

Do you have any sort of noise reduction set in the camera? It will take a second NR exposure after the image is taken. This might throw the timer off.

+1

Some timers need intervals longer than the exposure (like 30 sec exposure and 33 sec interval to get a 3 sec gap between exposures).

Usually interval is the time between suvcessive exposures.

What about self timer on the camera? Should be off.

Note:

To get intervallometer sequences working properly with my EOS R and EOS RP interval MUST be set to 3 sec or longer.

When interval is set to 2 sec both cameras skip some exposures.

A strange limitation (with my other brand cameras I use 1 sec intervals and no problems).
