Refurbished M6II in stock at Canon store

I just saw the Refurbished M6II is listed as In Stock at $679 USD. Here is the link:

https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/refurbished-eos-m6-mark-ii-body-black

I just bought a lightly used one locally, so I don't need this link, but I purchased a refurbished M6 several years ago through Canon and have been quite happy with it.

Having bought several refurbished items from Canon's online store, I wouldn't hesitate to buy there again. Every item was indistinguishable from new and worked perfectly. I think $679 is quite a good price right now.

+2 And the price for a new M6ii hasn’t budged from $850 for over a year now.

I came here to post same thing, you beat me to it.  Also the M50ii + 15-45 kits lens kit is on sale for $71 off, at $559 ---- way better than anything on Black Friday last year.

If someone's looking to upgrade or add a second body for the M system, now's a good time. These prices are better than buying used, and are straight from Canon with a one-year warranty.  I've had excellent experiences with Canon refurbs as well, have ordered 4 lenses from them over the past 10+ years and all have been like new except the packaging. Beware - sometimes these things go out of stock quickly when the price drops like this.

Congratulations!

The m6ii I think is a  very under-rated camera.  Although the 24 MP of other 'M's' is plenty for all-around use, I really enjoy the extra resolution for close cropping, a lot more flexibility and better final IQ when doing perspective correction for wide-angle lenses, and for lunar and planetary astrophotography.

Also the feature set and flexibility of the camera are great. I am still getting into some of the features such as using time-lapse and the intervalometer. And the custom modes C1 and C2 are awesome for switching between different, totally customized shooting modes at a second's notice.

You're lucky. Here it's currently $1637 CAD with taxes for the kit (which is the only version available). That's $1,290 USD.  I bought mine used from Henry's for something like $935 CAD and it was indistinguishable from new.

I ordered before first posting here.  I am really enjoying the M50ii, however shooting with 2 bodies with slightly different controls was driving me bonkers... I shoot in manual mode a lot and not having the second dial for aperture was difficult, also I really missed the rear control wheel.  I will put the m50ii on eBay most likely to fund the second M6ii.

I ordered a used EVF-DC1 off Adorama for $109 which should arrive today or tomorrow... for astrophotography I use the EVF for critical/fine focus, and having one that can tilt up 90 degrees is going to save a lot of trouble, especially when the camera is mounted on a telescope or pointed near the zenith of the sky!

I have both the DC1 and DC2 and much prefer the DC1.  Not only is the flip-up mechanism useful, but the image I get on the DC1 looks exactly like the image on the camera's display, whereas the DC2 produces a darker, higher contrast image that does not match.  I've tried out two brand new DC2s and they were identical.  And I've put the DC1 on one M6ii and the DC2 on another M6ii and tested them side by side.  I'm surprised it's considered an upgrade over the DC1.

Another vote for the DC1. I mostly use the rear screen angled slightly up, and hold the camera about shoulder high, elbows straight down at my sides, which I find very stable.

When I do need to use the EVF, I like that the DC1 lets me shoot from the same position.

Could the edge connector in the hot shoe be used for anything else? Like an external monitor?

I've now been able to shoot a few sessions with the black M6ii and the EVF-DC1.

I have to agree --- I prefer the DC1 over the DC2, which I didn't expect. It has a bit lower contrast, and comparing the 2 side by side both on M6iis, the DC1 shows some shadow detail in ares where the DC2 just goes to 'black.' This is trying and comparing at the full range of display brightness settings in the menus. At night in very dim light, the DC1 also seems to be fine --- it's more of a subtle difference, not a big difference, between the two.

Another positive is that the DC1's eyecup is more comfortable, and sits slightly higher off the camera and a little further back --- enough so that my nose does not touch the rear screen and set the focus points accidentally!

I preferred the M6ii's DC2 over the M50ii's built in EVF for similar reason --- on the M50ii the finder was so close to the screen that you had to angle your face a bit and my nose was always squashed up against the rear screen. The DC1 is even better ergonomically, and its slightly larger size over the DC2 seems like a good compromise.

Although this isn't very important to me, I find that I prefer the appearance of the DC1 as well. It looks more like the M50ii integrated viewfinder than the rounded, somewhat awkward-retro-looking DC2.

The ability to tilt the DC1 up adds flexibility to the camera - i find that I'm tilting the evf sometimes in normal shooting, I thought I'd only use it for astrophotography on a telescope or tripod.

The slightly smaller size and the cool-retro-look of the DC2 are two reasons I prefer it over the DC1. I have the silver one, though, so maybe that's just a lot cooler than the black one? Anyway, de gustibus non disputandum.

I like the DC1 for the reduced contrast too.  It's especially helpful when trying to pick the birdies out of the brush/trees.

Enjoy your new rig!!

Well, my perfect record with refurbs is now broken... the black M6ii I got was defective. After 4 or 5 shooting sessions, it would power down for no reason. Only removing and re-inserting the battery would get it to power up again.

The third time it did this, it never came back - it was dead. I contacted Canon, sent it in, and I received another refurb with different serial number a week later. They do not repair, they replace the unit with another.

I just finished re-configuring all my custom settings, hopefully this one's good!
