What is the current or about to be released best Android phone-camera? Something upcoming or what you currently own. Yeah according to DMXO iPhone 12Pro sits at the top, however...

Your question needs a bit of clarification.   Are you asking about Android phones that are only available in the United States, or Android phones available worldwide?

DXOMark.com gives the Huawei P50 Pro highest marks right now.   But the phone is banned from sale in the U.S.

The United States banned Huawei's telecom equipment, so did other countries alleging they were spying and sending info overseas to China, thus becoming a National Security Issue. The telecom equipment in question were broadband modems, routers etc (Anything where large amounts of data were going through).

Initially Smartphones were not on the ban, but to be safe Google banned the utilizaton of Android Software on Huawei, which is the OIS for all Android Phones, so that effectively crippled Huawei. Huawei still sells phones along with its subsidary Honor Phones. Honor phones has Android as they were not banned by Google, and Huawei developed its own limited software operating system.

However their cameras still are the best. You can still buy it, it is not illegal to buy it. But to do so, you wont have Android and thus you wont have the Google Play Store plus they are expensive due to their cameras.

Here is a link to buy the P50 pro plus on Amazon via a New Hampshire Store.

Vivo 70 Pro Plus is also an excellent Camera, they have teamed with Zeiss Optics, and in many cases, their images have to be seen to be believed particularly night shots. They are chinese phones as well

Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. My iPhone sits in a drawer now. The Pixel 6a is set to be released in days from what I read.

I've had nothing but headaches with my Mi 10 Ultra and will never buy another non-US supported smart phone again... first, took me a few days to get the EU rom loaded and setup properly... not an easy process.

Next - needed to wait a week for MI to "validate" the phone through their website...

Finally - things were up and running.  However, I get constant SIM card issues as MI wants to verify things on every reboot.. and fails no matter what I try.

The camera is very nice... but the rest of the phone is certainly not made for the US market and while things like the Play store, etc all work on the phone after the EU rom is installed... simple things like being able to make and receive phone calls often fail.

That certainly unacceptable.

Probably checking with china for every thing?

That's my take as well... and - to top it all off - ATT won't help me with the problems I've been having with my APN because they "Don't support the phone".  The problem isn't the phone but the fact they dropped their 3G network and the APN didn't switch to a 4G one... and they one add my device to their 5G APN because they "don't support it"... ie: aren't making any money off having my own device.

That is quite true. It seems that carriers want you to buy only those phones that they carry. Trying to lock you in.

Apple is now trying to make their phones a subscription service; same pattern of trying to lock you in.

If you plan to buy Chinese or usa unsupported phone (For USA users only); best bet is to use it as a camera only phone and use wifi to upload photos. In other words dont use sim, it will still work as a camera, wifi, bluetooth and wire connectivity to computer. However, this may not be a viable option, as these great camera phones seem to be quite expensive.

Yeah.. I will not buy another non-us phone unfortunately.. I need my phone to work for business as a phone 1st, text msgs 2nd and camera 3rd... but only want a single device in my pocket.  Guess it is back to Samsung/One+, etc... sad...

When I put the IEMI number into T-Mobile, they happily say it will work... but I'm skeptical.

Honestly, for me, it is either iPhone or Samsung (have both) and I always buy used (a year or so version) and then use it for 4-5 years before upgrading.

I just upgraded my s9+ to s21 ultra, because I am hoping to be traveling in the summer and my iPhone 8 is still not due for an upgrade - works too well.

All those Chinese phones still have quality issues that can't be resolved in US while fixing Samsung or iPhone is relatively easy - even just buying a used replacement.

I was a firm believer in buying slightly old chinese phones (I own and love my Mi 10 Ultra)... amazing tech for MUCH cheaper prices than Samsung/Apple.

Then.. ATT dropped 3G and my Mi 10 Ultra is now sitting on my desk doing nothing.  The bands for 4G on it are awful and it often just doesn't work because it can't get a 4G band - even turning off the 3G band ability makes this a brick.  Sure - the camera is still amazing on it.. but I need a PHONE first.. camera second.

So... I'm using my old S9+ again and it is rock solid for a phone... the camera is ok.. but it is nothing like the new stuff out there.

I too will probably grab a used s21Ultra once the S23 comes out... too bad the camera doesn't work as well as the MI 11 ultra or Pro50... would love another off brand but given the band issue in US... I'll be sticking to the usual suspects.

In USA. I had a S21ultra. The camera was okay but def not impressive. Now have S22ultra and the camera is pretty good. I'm happy with the pictures. It's a big phone though.
