Some underwater pics from Thailand with Olympus Tough TG-6
9

It’s been exactly two years since the last time we were spending our holiday in Thailand. Since the beginning of the Covid19 it’s been almost impossible to travel from Finland to Thailand as an tourist. But now we are here again and enjoying the clear blue tropic waters.

Two years ago in Krabi and Lipe Island I took all my underwater pics with my Sony A6000 and external underwater housing. For this trip I bought also an second hand Olympus TG-6, which I have now used in two different snorkeling trips. I’m still trying to find the best possible adjustments, so I could get all the fast moving fishes captured as sharp as possible. Using RAW is big advantage, but of course there is a limit on how much you can get out from these small censor cameras.

We have our ”own” nice coral reef here close to the hotel, so tomorrow I will take my Sony A6000 also there and after those pics I can compare the results. TG-6 takes absolutely impressive quality pics for an pocket camera and with it you don’t need necessarily any extra housing when snorkeling, so it’s very light and small travel companion.

Probably I end up keeping and using both of those cameras, because they both have much more value in use than in money.

Thanks for posting these. You have some excellent images from the TG-6.

I purchased a TG-6 from the Olympus outlet store and finally got to use it underwater in December, 2021 at Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic. The water wasn't as clear as you experienced and my settings were not as good, but I was happy with the results for a first snorkel with the TG-6. Thanks also to the reviewers at Backscatter on YouTube who provided excellent info. on all the settings on the TG-6.
