Re: Comparative Evaluations Please

I find all of them to have a strong amount of appropriate deviation, and excellent "fusibility"!  They remind me of Wheatstone's original line drawings.

It is somewhat difficult for me to discern which pair has the greatest amount of apparent depth range.

FYI, I typically crossview on a 14" diagonal screen.  Stepping away from the screen produces the well-recognized depth "stretch".  Perhaps I should attempt that...

On my 28" monitor, C has the most definable depth because the 3D black window forces 3 objects in front and 3 in back for a place of reference. We have to understand that depth is usually thought at that distance behind the window, but includes behind and front if that makes sense.

Thank you, threed123,

i am particularly interested responses regarding the differences in backgrounds, and you zeroed right in!  your point re: scene depth is clearly important.

The bigger the screen, the more the feeling of depth increases. On my screen, all the variants play well in depth.

Thanks for looking, Gunner,

…and you do or do not perceive a difference in discernible depth among A,B, and C?

Re: Comparative Evaluations Please

Given time, I could self-hypnotise into believing they were all equal but, in the shorter time allotted, I placed them in the order B, A, C with B the most pronouced depth range to my eye.

Cheers, Tony.

Strong effect in all of them, but "A" have a little less than "B" and "B" have a little less than "C". 🙂
So A<B<C .

Re: Comparative Evaluations Please

Well, so far we have:

C as having the most discernible depth (2 votes)

C as having the least discernible depth (1 vote), and

B as having the most discernible depth (1 vote)

So please, let’s have many more expressed opinions, and if you feel you can explain your opinion based upon the surrounding tonal features of the image pair, (or any other perceived feature of the image pair) please do so,

There is no reason to conceal the purpose behind this exercise; it is an open-ended attempt to identify and characterize factors influencing the concept of “retinal image disparity”in binocular depth perception.

More differential evaluations are in the planning stages, but for now, as many possible individual responses to the present series are most heartily welcomed! Come one, come all!

The greater the “n” the greater the joy elicited in the statistician’s heart!

so please, join in !

With best regards,

Dave Graham
