Another advantage to PL7

I got a used e-pl7 in order to replace my e-pm2 for mountain biking trips. Since my e-pm2's D-pad wheel has started acting erratically making the camera annoying to use.

So since you're familiar with e-pm2 I can tell you e-pl7 is not that much larger and it's much nicer to use. I shoot in Aperture Priority 9/10 times and I have the two back buttons assigned to ISO and Exp. Comp.

e-pl7 for under $200 (which is how much I've gotten mine for) is a great deal. It's my "beater camera".

Here are the two cameras side by side:

Image quality is the same between the two cameras, e-pl7 has a couple of advantages. Most notably: Noticeably better IBIS, Flippy Screen, and better controls.

I’ve owed the PM2 and it’s a great little camera, but the M10 was much better.

A PL-7 marks the very first totally modern Pen Lite bodies.

Essentially it’s an M10.2 with three axis (very good, just not five axis) IBIS and no EVF.

You get zero second anti shock and maybe Hand Held Starlight mode, Live Composite, all the toys except focus bracketing and stacking and high res.

You can’t do these stunts with a pre PL7

Re: Another advantage to PL7

Sure E-M10.2 is a better camera, it's a step up. I own a Pen F (as well as my e-m5) which is also a better camera.

But e-pl7 was like $140 on used market. And I needed a small body I can put in my bike pouch. And not care too much about it. It's my cheapest camera I don't mind leaving in my truck sort of thing.

I own E-VF2 and E-VF4 which I should have mentioned, and I can usually fit it in a different pocket if I am getting ready for an extended shooting session.

The OP I think is looking at PL7 for the same reason I did. You get a lot of camera for very little money. Plus the rangefinder look is nice. Stick a pancake on it and you gotta little stealthy camera capable of nice results.

i opted for a E-M10 ii, then on a whim picked up a panny GX1 because it was just over $100.  neither camera has arrived yet, so it's probably too soon to sell one and pick up an E-PL7, but if the GX1 doesn't work out, the E-PL7 would make a nice replacement.

Add the Panny GX1 with external viewfinder DMW LVF2. It is a very nice EVF with tilting function.

I found it very useful.
