2 new Samsungs ordered. CAN'T WAIT!

Well, since my wife's iPhone 11 got hacked in October, unbeknownst to us, we are moving from the iJunk to new secure samsung S21s. She is getting a s21 in white, and I am getting the ultra in black. We had no idea her phone had been hacked until I call our service provider for some information on something else with our account and they said you are all good, Just one charge for photo text message to US from her number.

We flipped.  We started looking at bills then and noticed 9 messages all together between Oct and Now. There is no trace of the messages ever being sent from her phone, or how they got in. Typical Apple "security". We are the best,...at marketing. Actual security, not so much.

I have been harping on her for months to switch to samsung phones, after buying her mother a new s21. She (the wife) is completely on board now. Who knows what these asshats have from her phone now.

I also went and talked to my good friend at the Telus store here, he said they have had many customers with ijunk come in these past 6 months with the same thing happening to them. He said the android phones are secure and they can't get in, but there are many exploits that can be taken advantage of in IOS. Go figure. The smoke and mirrors company at it's finest. Long story long, he has 2 new samsungs on the way in for us now.

Enjoy your new phones.

As for security and phones, it's not what brand you own or if you can be hacked it is only a matter of what circumstances you put yourself in and then you're victimized. Nothing is secure, Samsungs are not foolproof by any means.

My wife answers calls, checks her email and texts family and friends.  She is well versed in security.  This happened months ago. without any notice of anything or her opening a rouge email / text.  And yes....Apple has many security flaws they know about and refuse to fix.

No matter how secure your cell phone may be at any point in time, you should know that every time the manufacturer releases an update to your phone no matter the brand there is a risk of a vulnerability being exploited as this is a new set of code that hasn't been tested.

Keep in mind manufacturers 'testing' of their software is considered testing lite. The real testing of released software is always when it is pushed to your device and goes live, when it becomes widespread and public, this is when the manufacturer finds out the bugs and then they work on patches and fixes. During that window is when you are the most vulnerable, no matter the brand. Then you have some relative security for a few months until the next update. These updates are what hackers drool over with great anticipation of the next one.

I'm sure you aren't aware that android which your Samsung run on had its biggest software hack in the history of the software just 3 days ago on Dec 13th, nor that android has had a major hack on average 3 times a month for the last 10 years.

Maybe you aren't aware also that another facet of phone vulnerability is through the apps you run, and neither IOS or Android has fared any better in limiting liability.

Arxan Technologies security firm analyzed the top 100 paid apps and top 20 most popular free apps in its 'State of Mobile App Security' report to reveal that 97% of the top, paid Android apps and 87% of the top, paid iOS apps have been hacked. Free apps did not fare any better, with 80% on Android and 75% on iOS found vulnerable. Though iOS has been considered relatively safer, the report says that the percentage of hacked popular iOS apps has steadily increased over the last 3 years.

If you have any device connected to the internet there is no such thing as security. I think you got yourself some great new phones, but I don't think for a second you just became more secure. Don't let your guard down.

Oh, btw. Considering I have been using all platforms of mobile for years from blackberry OS, windows 8 and 10 mobile, various versions of android from 1-11, and IOS from 3 to 15......This is the ONLY time any device of ours has been hacked. Therefore the track record of iOS is not as good as android anymore. There has been TONS of information regarding apple's lack of patching security flaws (outside of their own talking heads), Therefore a change is needed in our household. Degoogled android devices are much more secure now than iOS.

With your in-depth experience and knowledge I'm sure your wife will benefit from your “harping” and deciding, for her, what phone she will use.
