R6 VS R3 Which camera is better?
1

Hello.

I am interested in purchasing a new camera, I currently have a 6Dii camera, with several ef lenses, my main use of the camera will be sports photography (mainly acrobatics and rhythmic gymnastics), dance, performances, studio, people, animals.
I'm undecided between buying r3 and r6.
Camera features that are important to me:
1) ISO capabilities in harsh lighting conditions.
2) Fast and accurate focus even in harsh lighting conditions.
3) Activate a rolling shutter as low as possible.

r6
I know of r6 has the rolling shutter phenomenon, to what extent is it manifested?
She has a problem that when shooting the viewfinder turns black, I realized that it's causing it to miss focus and miss pictures, how true is that?
How is its battery life?
I have some other drawbacks with it, but it can be overcome.

r3
The problem with it is the price, does the price really justify what it gives?

Which camera do you think is best for photography and will give me the best value?
It is important that the camera also work well on excellent with an ef lens adapter

Thanks.

Hands down the R3 does everything better that the R6 can do, and more. Also less rolling shutter. The downsides are: bigger, slightly heavier, more expensive (as you mentioned), and virtually impossible to get right now.

R3 is clearly better but R6 is certainly a better value, depend your need and budget; if you need 20/30 fps go to the R3, if 12 fps is enough maybe R6 is enough too

Is R3 better than R6 in ISO and Focus performance?

I also think maybe buy R6 now and wait for next year for R1, what do you think? The question is whether the R6 can give me by next year at least 90 percent of the performance I need

I think getting the R6 now and waiting to see what else comes out later on is a solid plan. I am actually doing the same thing, I am debating ordering a R3 and selling the R6 when my copy is shipped and divered, but like you, I am not sure the R3 is enough of an upgrade? I mean I am guessing it is hands down way better but the R6 is so good do we need R3? My guess is only if your shooting proffesional sports or something idk.

Chalk and cheese, apples and pears, all come to mind.

Do you need the R3?

If you are thinking R3 but price is an obstacle but want something a bit better than an R6 then the R5?

The fact that the R3 is superior to the R6 should be a "no brainer".

No one can tell what constitutes a "good value" for another or predict the future any more than you can!

If price is no object get an R3---otherwise get an R6.

That would be the way I would have said it.

If it's in your budget, the R3.  Better in every meaningful way, especially build (great weather sealing) and battery life.  Well, it's a little heavier, but that's a plus for me.

Perhaps it should have been worded “better for my needs”. Sure no rolling shutter but does a hobbyist really need more than 12FPS, etc.

According to the conversations on the net and compare, there is no significant difference between the two, the question of how real it is.
As it is written r3 does not really justify its price at the moment

r5 gives less good iso performance

So everyone figures the R6 can do this just as well?

The R6 will be so far ahead of your 6DII for sports, it may do everything that you need.

Is the R3 a better camera than the R6, sure it is.  It better damn well better be for 3.7 times the price.  So bang for the buck I  don't see it as worth the extra bucks.

The R3 does have rolling shutter but is less than the R6.

I hear from you more I WANT over I NEED.

Make a list of your NEEDS and another one for your WANTS.  Check the specs on both and see how they fill your NEEDS and WANTS.

Are you a hobbyist or do you make a living in photography ?

There is nothing wrong with getting a camera for your wants just be honest about to yourself.

I would love to have an R3 but I have NO real need for but a whole lot of want

Also there is the weight problem with the R3 at 1015g and the R6 at 680g

At the price of the R3 I would rent one for a week to make sure its what you need and want.

best of luck.

This may sound snarky, but not intended too. I think you answered your own question. The R3 is targeted to people who's camera is their money maker. Its "value" is in its advanced features, not its price. User's who get paid for photo work will make their money back. Hobbyists, obviously will kiss their money goodbye, so it's  more of a matter of how much discretionary cash they have and what their spending "pain point is.

From what you have written the R6 seems the more appropriate camera for you.  I think you will have a bad case of buyer's remorse spending $6K for a camera who's features you really don't seem to need.
