manual control of aperture pixel 6 pro?

Wondering if there is a way to control the aperture in the pixel 6 pro. It seems to always want to shoot wide open with a fast shutter speed. Specifically, I think it would be nice to increase the shallow depth of field when you want to.

No. Fixed apertures are the rule.

Is there much room for increase....ie, the small sensor even at f2 is probably equivalent to f12-13 on a full frame camera. I think in order to get shallow depth of field or bokeh, you have to shoot very very close. If you are getting shallow depth of field or bokeh with a cell phone camera its probably being "manufactured" by the camera.

I very much doubt that any of the camera phones have a mechanical aperture control of any sort, which will be required to change depth of field. Exposure will be adjusted using shutter speed and gain (ISO), possibly in combination with ND filters.

My wife's S9+ have dual apertures: f/1.5-2.4, 26mm.

The 1" Xperia Pro-I also offers variable aperture.

The Pixel 6 Pro not.

But i fail to see any advantages of variable apertures, because DoF is already large at the wide aperture (24mmf7 hyperfocal distance is 2.8m) and desirable effects of smaller apertures in a full frame lens for example (sharper, less abberations, sunstars) are not present or get lost because of diffraction @f14 equiv.

Here you can see the difference f2 vs f4 makes on the xperia:

the flagships offer quite impressive equivalent apertures of around f7 on their main camera.
Check out the table i posted here

But like you pointed out, on a 24 or 26mm wideangle lens this doesnt exactly mean its easy to get blurry backgrounds unless youre close.
