Material of Fuji xe3, xe4, xt30

Hello,

I am considering buying one of the 3 cameras.

I am also choosing the color of the camera.

Here are my questions that would help me with the decision a lot:

1. Are any of the models have top and/or bottom parts made from metal?

2. According to this article (https://mirrorlesscomparison.com/fujifilm-vs-fujifilm/xe4-vs-xs10-vs-xt30/), xt30 and xe4 have magnesium top parts. However, I have touched at xt30 before, and it felt like plastic. It would be great if anyone can confirm this.

3. Is there a variation of materials between different colors? I notice in the marketing page of xt30 that the texture for the black version and the silver version looks pretty different.

Thank you so much for the answers

I am using canon, but I have been wanting to switch to fuji for years.

They're definitely metal. (Not sure about the X-E4, but pretty sure they're all painted, black and silver. No problems with any of my black Fujis holding up with normal use. My only silver Fuji is the X100V, which has a solid aluminum top plate. The dials etc. are definitely easier to read on the black cameras.

The silver ones do appear slightly more textured to my eye. The black finish is very smooth.

I probably like the X-T30 the best of this bunch, the X-E4 the least, greatly preferring the extra control and customization options I would get with the older X-T20/X-T2.

you should get camera with IBIS , X-T4 or perhaps X-S10,

unless you are going to use it with wideish fast primes?

Don't have the three on your list, but unless Fuji has changed their policy, except for the X-A series, they all use metal top and bottom plates; usually painted magnesium. Having had both black and silver models, I can say that the paint on the black models holds up much better than the silver.

This is a Black X-T 1, released in 2014, that I purchased used earlier this year, and still in near mint condition.

If you're regularly shooting dark static interior spaces, maybe. Otherwise, no, I disagree. IBIS would be nice to have, sure, but it certainly wouldn't be my primary concern. There's a lot more to a good camera than stabilization.  I wouldn't trade my X-T20 for an X-S10.

Why “should” he get a camera with IBIS? Do cameras with IBIS use different materials (as that was what the OP was asking!)?

And why should you get a camera with IBIS “unless you are going to use it with wideish fast primes”? Does that mean you should not / cannot use a camera without IBIS for longer and slower lenses?

Sorry, but beside the fact that your response didn’t answer anything regarding the question of the OP… it’s just “questionable” overall!

I think the x-t30 felt like plastic because the knobs are plastic. But the top cover is definitely magnesium alloy.
