First run of TTArtisan 35mm 1.4

In a cloudy late afternoon. I believe that all of them were taken at f/1.4 with intentional underexposure. To focus manually is not easy but enjoyable.

Anyone who can tell me the name of this flower or plant?

Sure!

The photos look nice, but don't seem super sharp - do you think it was the manual focusing? The exif doesn't include the f-number, would be interesting to see. (edit - ah, sorry, you did say they were all f/1.4, which of course makes the focus challenging...)

No complaints about around $60 lens. I am totally satisfied with this small, metal-feel  lens with a clicked aperture ring.

Given the modest price of that lens, I think these images are surprisingly sharp.

In the interest of maximizing sharpness, I find it best to routinely stop down lenses faster than f/2 one or two stops. However, if getting an image at all in very dim light is the top priority, I'll go ahead and shoot wide open.

I like the “look” you get from this lens, esp with your “birds.”

Note:  You might benefit from DxO for your processing (unless the artifacts are entirely from jpeg compression).

Now my googling with the name tells me it is also called crane lily or crane flower. Thank you!

Where do you live? Google tells me the flower comes from South Africa.

What do you mean by DxO? Is it the software that costs $165? I thought DxO was about lens or camera tests before I googled it at your mention. Today's software technology helps optics/hardware's flaws alleviated at a relatively low cost.

Yes, DxO Photolab 5 (with DeepPRIME noise reduction) RAW editing software produces truly amazing results.  I find it invaluable.  It really extends the capabilities of the hardware.

I love the TTartisan 35mm f/1.4!

I use it with my canon M5, its fab for landscape and close up. examples below.
