FYI - 2020 Ubiquiti networks breach apparently inside job attempt at extortion

There’s significant news regarding the Ubiquiti Networks data breach story from early 2021. It apparently was all an attempt at extorting the company conducted by a disgruntled employee.

The story is currently spreading among a lot of the major tech news outlets, but here is Bleeping Computer’s article as a starter:

I just wanted to post about this because Ubiquiti’s products are somewhat common recommendations both here and elsewhere for pro-sumer or “modestly advanced” networking gear. Anyone that may have looked elsewhere due to the breach story may now be able to just evaluate the products on their own merit.

I have the Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro, and I have changed the password and enabled the 2 factor authentication. It is a great machine and just became available after a long period of component shortage.
