I just received a NX1 that is practically brand new, probably less than 2k shutter count... I love it.

A few years back I had a huge pile of NX gear... a few 300 bodies and a 500 and a bunch of lenses (the rokinon 12mm f2 was my favorite) ... anyway, I wanted an upgrade and bought a Canon 6Dii and a few lenses and after a while felt comfortable selling most of my Samsung gear off. Fast forward a couple of years and I never really fell in love with the Canon, ended up selling the 6dii and still had a little mirrorless M5 that I used with a new rokinon 12mm lens and adapter for all my other Canon lenses... don't love that camera either and the battery life is basically non-existent, I have to carry lots of batteries.

Anyway, I bought this NX1 for my boss when it came out, and she never used it, it has a 16-50S lens and battery grip. She gave it to me last week and now all I want to do it go and shoot pics, this camera is so great... love the quality with the zoom, and I don't have to swap out primes all the time... user interface is great, image quality is great, battery life and ergonomics are great... I couldn't be happier, I can't believe how good this still is for it's age. I still have a NX300 somewhere and a 50-200 and a couple small non-S lenses, I need to dig them out and see how they do on this body. ... anyway, that's a long winded way of saying I love this camera, even in 7 years later.

Even thought I have the R7 and a lot of Canon lenses (both EF and RF, around a dozen of them), plus the Pocket 4K with some m43, my favorite cameras are the NX line.

Even thought I have 4 NX bodies, plenty of lenses and accessories, I am very reluctant to loose any of these!

Unfortunately, the age started to show..the auto focus on the R7 is unbelievable, and IBIS (even thought not a deal breaker for me) is a nice addition for various reasons. That extra stop on video also..on everything else NX1 is still unbeatable.

I have to add that ALL my NX batteries still work perfectly after 6-8 years.. unbelievable. .

The NX500 still compares very well in APSC land. I just wish there was a 20-60 / 2.8 lens or at least an update to the good but slow 12-24. Remake that as 12-24/2.8 with OIS , wishes wishes … and a faster focusing 30/2.

Btw I would like to get a second NX500, ah well.

Regards

Thought the same, bought a second white NX500. One for the 30mm in a small bag, one for the 85, indoors.

…I bought back into Samsung. I missed the color tonality and character.

…Newer cameras will have better bells and whistles, improved specs and better low light abilities perhaps. But there is something special about the way Samsung renders light and colors, which to me cannot be replaced by any other manufacturer.

…And there are still things that are unique to Samsung, for example the size of the excellent pancake lenses. Fuji has a fantastic 27mm one and Canon M likely has a comparable pancake (as do other manufacturer but I don't know). But Samsung put out 4 small beauties along with a killer kit lens that happens to be small as well.

This, right here, is exactly my experience. I just can’t see myself leaving after years of hating the latest Nikons and coming to Samsung to find this amazing colour accuracy, tonality, and ahead-of-its-time technology with a resolution that will never be left wanting plus amazing size & quality.

Hacking the firmware has only made it better, in particular in the video department (and choosing HEVC was a very smart move by Samsung).
