Canon EOS 350D doesn't write Lens Type to CR2?
1

Just found out that my EOS 350D doesn't write its lens type, Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, to its CR2 raw files. I suspected this to be a bug in the software I use, but it looks like the info simply isn't there.

I tried to set it using exiftools by:

$ exiftool -LensType=234 test.CR2
0 image files updated
1 image files unchanged

To no avail: this works for other tags, but not for Lens Type?

Can someone else confirm this?
Is there a workaround?

Any help is appreciated...

Canon EOS 350D (EOS Digital Rebel XT / EOS Kiss Digital N)

Sorted this out, I need to use the -n flag:

exiftool -n -LensType='234' test.CR2

So far, I have yet to see proof that an EOS 350D writes the Lens Type tag to its EXIF data, and  yet Canon maintains that this tag is correctly written. Is there someone out there with an EOS 350D that can confirm either claim?
