Two More, B&W or Color?
6

This pair are more complex because color plays a vessel part of the image.  In this case I prefer the color version!

Thanks for looking and commenting!

Thanks for the comments Ceistinne:  Appreciated!

I slightly favor the B&W version, because when I travelled on route 66 in the early 1960s I was shooting mainly in B&W and that is how I remember the old service stations and gift shops.

It works well either way, but if you choose the colour, you could lower the saturation a bit to make it look older.

If it were a large print I'd prefer the color version.

In the op you said you favor the color version.  Are there two larryjs?  Anyway, I prefer the color version by a good country mile.  I like the color contrast you got with the vivid oranges.  In the BW version, these tones are darker, muddy to my eye.  I suppose one may wish to create an old-fashioned sort of film look with this sort of setting but I would go even further than you did in terms of creating a faded, film-like look.  Color it is for me!

I think they're both very busy images, Larry. I leaning towards the monochrome version, but a low saturation version of the colour image might work quite well too.

The composition you posted on 1x works much better, and maybe makes this one redundant.

I think I can see a blown pixel on the icebox

This one’s tough. If the B&W had a bit more contrast, I think I’d prefer it, but the colour version would make a great jigsaw puzzle.

Thanks Brev00:  Comments appreciated.  There is only one Larry, I like the color image a little better than the Monochrome, however I photographed some similar scenes on Route 66 back in the 1960s in B&W and have some nostalgic feelings

Thanks Vitee:  True the image on 1X has better composition.  There was a lot of stuff in 1X image, but it held together better!  Here I was seeing how people thought about which version of this image was thier fav.
