How come those dark spots in my yesterdays Sigma shoots ? How to fix them?

Hello My yesterdays shoots showed some dark spots which shouldn't be there.

What's the reason of this flaw and how to fix it ?

I'm using the Sigma SD15 camera + Sigma 17-200mm f3.5 6.3 DC. It was purchased second hand and as a previous model it is out of guarantee.

These are dust spots on the sensor of your SD15.  Nothing to worry about, this is quite normal to get those dust spots. Since you can remove the lens all you need to do is to clean the sensor, or have it cleaned.

You will need to learn to retouch your photos, because those spots are inevitable. You can clean your sensor a lot, but you will never keep it completely clean. At some point you will have a sensor spot on a good photo, which you need to take care of. I use GIMP.

Just so you know, I use the clone tool. I almost never use the healing brush. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you will once you watch the video.

Good luck.

Thank you. I will look into secondary software, so for, am only using SPP and iPhoto.

Here is a nice article explaining how to spot dust on a camera sensor:

https://photographylife.com/how-to-spot-dust-on-your-dslr-sensor

Most of the time (e.g.indoors with open aperture) you will not even notice these spots.. but when you close the aperture and shoot against the sky or against a white wall you will see them.

Since you bought your camera second hand perhaps it never got cleaned in the last 10 years so perhaps a good idea to have your camera professionally serviced, i.e. sensor cleaned but also your optical viewfinder cleaned and focus adjusted. When it comes back from CLA (clean, lubricate adjust) it will be like new.

You can do this in iPhoto quite easily. Here’s a link to some instructions.

The same is true of iPhoto’s successor, Photos, which has been out for quite a while. You must have an old Mac
