Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra dng colour cast

Have Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra with twrp installed, works well on all normal apps and jpeg images are great, for a phone! However unless you get the exposure spot on in the Pro mode ie dng, you get a magenta colour cast which is worse in the bottom half of the image. The greater the under exposure, the worse the magenta cast. Best results are with the exposure set to +1/3. Some dng images come out fine but I seem to be treading a fine line all the time. Got to the point now where I don't bother shooting dng unless the light levels are very good as jpegs pretty much spot on. Have found Jpeg shots benefit from minor adjustments in Capture One.

Have tried all the permutations I can think of to resolve this but so far this Xiaomi is not Gods gift to photography.

Never had this problem with my Huawei P40 Pro.

Re: Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra dng colour cast

The symptoms sound just like the symptoms on Leica's first digital camera, the M8. Shadows had a magenta cast that was difficult and sometimes impossible to remove without ruining the rest of the image. The problem was the camera did not have a proper IR filter. It recorded light outside the range of visible light.

If a shot was not ruined by IR in the shadows, you could get fine images indeed from an M8.

Leica's solution was to give customers an IR filter. Maybe you want to try holding an IR filter over the lens. At least you could find out whether IR is indeed the problem. Not much of an elegant fix, though.
