Same lens? The OMD photos have no purple fringing.

I've heard on forums that Panasonics like to be on the cooler side when it comes to white balance. In this particular instance, and to the GX7, that seems about right.

Yet the Photograph N ° 15 of the GX7 seems much hotter to me than that of Olympus!

Thank you for your effort.

TBH the result slightly surprises me because from my experience on GX85/G85 vs GX7, the AA filter on GX7's sensor caused its SOOC output more soft in a quite observable margin. I trust EM1 mk-II should also have AA filter removed. Plus its higher resolution, this is quite an unexpected result (I assume those posted samples are non edited SOOC image or if converted from RAW, all default corrections from the RAW converter should have been switched off?). I originally expected the output from EM1 mk-II should be sharper than that from GX7.

For the rotten apple shots, EM1 mk-II used 1/3ev higher exposure (1/640" vs 1/500") , therefore after compensated that different in PP (increased 0.35ev to the GX7 shots in DXO having all lens & camera profile switched off) for a more fair comparison (had also applied minor touching on color tone to the warmer side), they should be as below:

If these shots would be shot under the same parameters, I suppose they could be very similar (from these the GX7 has a slightly cooler WB).

Thank you for the very interesting result.

Thank you so much, the pleasure is mine.

Personally, the results do not surprise me too much.
And yes, I still shoot in RAW, with the minimum of intervention to remain the most equitable.
The comparisons are above all for me, to get a good idea of the cameras I own.
75 DSLR / ML so far: https://www.flickr.com/photos/maoby/albums/72157644364384041
And the photos are taken with the most normal conditions possible, automatic exposure, A, etc ...
And in the end, I find the photos of the EM1 Mark ll, a little sharper than the one of the GX7.
If you are interested, Currently, I have more than 230 reviews of my collection here,
https://www.flickr.com/photos/maoby/albums/page2
including 8 involving the GX7

Good weekend, and thank you again for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated.

Goodness, something about Panasonic's industrial designs. Straight lines and all

If I understand correctly, you don't like the design of the Panasonic?

Whoops, I should have been more clear, sorry haha. Ever since the first GX1, I really like how straight edge design Panasonic made that series. It gives it a unique and iconic look to that Panasonic series.

I am hoping I can add a GX series to my collection someday. For now, my GF3 fulfills that compact purpose.

Had GF3 (pink color) for quit long time, a compact back up camera of mine.

However, noisy m-shutter, relatively old sensor technology limited usable ISO to 400~800, lack of the latest 4K support (video and still), no zebra plus some latest useful features etc caused me to replace it with a GX850 (GF9) recently. Now I have updated my current cameras to the 16Mp no AA filter generation.

To my surprise, I found the AF tracking and face detection of GX850 indeed might be better than the higher spec GX85!

🙂

It's not like the GF3 is bad, I've gotten some really pleasing images with it, but a little faster autofocus would be nice and a little more responsive touch screen. For a 2011 camera, it is 100% useable.

Just want something that can tango next to my G85 and G9. My signature says it all, just want to get my hands on a GX or GM series body when it pops up in my local listings

Quick dirty comparison, GF3 - G85 - G9

GF3 is an interesting model and it is the smallest I can use. I had considered GM5 but it is too small for me .

Watch out for the 14-42PZ on GF3. It could be a shutter shock combo. I would put on a 12-32 on it instead.

Happy shooting.
