NGC891 Galaxy from Paris
11

Hi,

Here is the last image from my light-polluted backyard,  situated 20km from the Eiffel tower (Bortle 7).

NGC891 is a beautiful edge-on galaxy in Andromeda, in a background rich of distant galaxies.

I combined luminance data from a mono camera (ASI1600mm) with chrominance data from a color camera (ASI533MC).

200/800 custom carbon astrograph + 2.5" TS Wynne corrector on AZEQ6

OAG with ASI120 mini + ASIAIRv1

240*60sec with ASI533MC + L filter

180*60sec with ASI1600MM + L filter

Darks, flats, dark-flats and offsets

Annotated luminance:

thanks for looking,

Dan

Hi Dan!
Impressive work in that described location...don't see much of a difference to my recent image of NGC 891.
best regards,

Thanks Michael ! Looking at your image, the resolution seems similar however yours is smoother and goes a bit deeper.

Love the spikes and star colors. Isn’t it possible without guiding at 60sec?

Thanks for your message. I guess accurate tracking without guiding would be possible, however I need to enable guiding for dithering.

Super work ... from any location ... given it is from central Paris I think it is exceptional. Now if  I can manage something half as good from Bortle 5/6 I would be delighted (I was going to say over the moon but thought everyone would start groaning).

Thanks a lot for your message. To be fair, while I am only 20km from the Eiffel Tower, given that Paris is quite compact (compared to other large cities), I'm already at the outskirts of the urban area.
