Question for G16 owners
1

I'm thinking of picking up a nice used G16 as a camera for hiking trips  . . . so far I have had no luck finding one to examine in person here in San Antonio.

Does this camera still have the tanky, metal feel of the G10? I briefly had a G11 and was not impressed with the feel of it -- seemed much more plasticky with the moving LCD. I figure since they went back to a fixed LCD it might feel more like a G10 again.

I've been using a Sony RX100VA -- but I just don't trust it to rough use. Feels like it might die with one drop. So many delicate components crammed into such a small space . . .

(I just picked up a really clean G10, and it's given me the G-series bug again . . .).

I own a G15 and a G16. Aside some minor improvements of G16 that do not include better image quality, it shows also minor signs of cost shortcuts, making of it a tank with same canon (pun intended) but a tad lighter blindage than G15.

Dum senesco, addisco.

Ahh, the G10 now there was a camera, in good light, unbelievable jpgs. Had the G15, whilst solid not quite the cold steel feel of the G10, enjoy it, sometimes wish I had kept my G10

I really lucked out ... I found the two G10s I bought recently in a pawnshop for ninety each with charger and battery. One looks brand new (No scuffs or visible wear at all and a screen protector already installed)  and the other is about 95 percent. Both work great. One for me and one for my son, so we'll be using the same camera as I teach him. They are such solid little cameras. You just pick them up and feel the quality.

But it made me start wanting a G16 to get the best and the last of the line too.
