What's in your camera bag...Olympus version

Re: This is pathetic

The Metz 64 is great because it comes with a nice power pack - which I actually need. The FL 300 works great for me. I´m not going out with big diffusors. Speed & weight are essential for me. And sometimes security. In hardship locations I use EPl5 or 7, with Sigma 60 & Lumix 20 - completely pocketable. Quality suffices. Otherwise, most of the time I use a FF Canon with 1.4 35. I´d never carry a full FF kit with tele etc., but that the quality & sharpness is better than MFT is obvious. Still I compromise & use MFT.

As for sharpness: M43 is compromise. Why don´t you use an old timey field camera?

That looks like a sensible choice. For me it´s hard to understand why someone willing to carry 10kgs+ of MFT equipment does not use FF.  I use MFT since it´s inception, but the quality does NOT match FF, it´s inferior. OK for me. I have ONE FF Canon dangling from my neck, with the 1.4/35, for quick snap shots/available light/landscape. All the rest - esp long telephoto - I leave to MFT. I´ll never carry more that 4 kgs

My old bag was too small and too insecure, so, after getting robbed, I switched to a bright yellow, lockable, Pelican-style hardcase (Harbor Freight).
It isn't big enough to hold everything, but it is easy to spot, I've kicked it down a flight of stairs with no damage, and all of this lives in it:

  • E-M1 MkII
  • E-M1
  • 12-40/2.8
  • 60/2.8 Macro
  • MC-14 1.4X teleconverter
  • set of automatic extension tubes
  • Raynox DCR-250
  • 20/1.7
  • 7.5/3.5
  • 40-150/4-5.6
  • battery charger w/spare batteries for each body
  • 2x IEC C7 Receptacle to NEMA 1-15P right angle plugs (for chargers)
  • 2x arca swiss style plates
  • small round mirror (for aligning camera to plane)
  • microfiber cloth
  • lenspen
  • Godox TT350O ttl flash w/foot
  • FL-LM3 flash
  • Vello off camera ttl flash cable
  • USB cable
  • SD cards
  • AA batteries

Might I ask is this your storage, or you carry it out for usual shooting?

As you might be able to tell, my shooting is oriented toward close ups. I shoot mostly indoors and travel by car. If I have to go a long way from the car to wherever, I have one of those folding hand trucks. I'm not hiking forest trails with this kit.
If I'm walking around, I'll carry a single camera in my hand with a single lens (usually the 12-40). I can stick the small flash in my pocket. That's all I want to mess with.
I used to carry a small camera bag and found it mainly a pain in the *ss, not secure at all, and I still shot mostly with one lens.

I have several different bags depending on how I traveling. My standard gear for 98% of my outings is simply EM1.3, Oly 12-100 and PL 8-18. Those two lenses essentially handle all my shooting.

Below is a shot of me for a rough 10 mile mountain hike, with my largest bag, LowePro Fastpack 250 AWII with my EM1.3 and 12-100, around my neck, PL 8-18 is in my bag. The guy that took the shot said, “that’s a lot of camera for a hike like this”. I simply responded with, ‘you’re right’. 😃

Hike to top of Mt Madison, over 5,000’ up and about 10 miles

What's the cyan thing around the 12-100? Nice to see you, BTW. I have just bought my 8-18 and expect my first ever Olympus body, EM5 III, tomorrow.

Great bag and set of gear. I would never had 9-18 and 8-18 in a single bag, though.

The 9-18 is for the IR camera.  I don't like changing lenses, so the 8-18 is for visible and the 9-18 is for IR.  Note that this is my transport bag; I use a couple of backpacks or shoulder bag to carry things out.  I do this only because I'm driving to where I'm going, and not getting on an airplane.
