Alternative for VMC-MM2 cable

I own a Sony Cable (VMC-MM2) that works perfect for synchronizing two a6000 camera's. One direction (One master that triggers other slavecamera). My master camera is on the right site of the stereorig (right handed). The plug of the VMC-MM2 cable is very long for the master so that the stereo base is large (16cm).

Has anyone build a cable with a short immediate right-angled plug so that the camera's can be closer together?

Thanks, Coen

Re: Alternative for VMC-MM2 cable

you should try the  Multi-Camera to Dual Output MCC-Multi Control Cable fr DJI RONIN-S Sony Camera the Multi Terminal are right angles to the cables to enable close distance mounting of pairs of Sony camera

Interesting cable. I wonder if you can cut of the third wire with the big gimbal plug and which of the 10 wires are used so that the synchronisatiin works.

Thanks for your reply, Coen

The two multi terminal are in sync. Ie. they control both camera together. I tried it already with two RX0II camera, as a stereo camera set.  The third wire; I haven't cut beyond the connector but I believe if you cut them it will still sync, because the connection is at the connector. But don't short the wires when you cut them  when you cut them; i.e make sure the don't touch each other after you cut them.

Two questions about this cable:
1 what is the distance in mm from edge black plastic to begin metal plug and is it

2 bidirectional (no master slave problem)?

thank you for your effort, Coen

you need to add about another 1mm to the above. So its 15.5mm. It will sync both camera in Photo mode, either camera can be master/slave.

In video there maybe frame sync issue need to adjust in post processing

This is what I'm looking for. 20mm gain from 37 to 16mm. Last question: do the two cameras fire at almost the same time if they are in focus just like the vmc-mm2 (less then 5 microseconds)?

Thanks, Coen

Yes. They do. They are essentially the same as the vmc-mm2. They will pre-focus both cameras when you half depress the button and fire both camera almost simultaneously when either button is pressed.

I know enough. That’s the cable I need for my purpose.

Thank you very much for your input.

Re: Alternative for VMC-MM2 cable

By the way I see that the cable must go up at camera 1 and must go down at the other, what is the maximum horizontal distance between the two plugs when attached to the cameras, I see that the cable is 20 cm long?

Each cable to the junction is 15cm long. So x 2 , 30cm. But because one is up and second is down, and its connected parallel to the junction there some losses in the length for both camera but its enough for Stereo pairing even for the largest full frame cameras.

A Micro USB extension cable male/female, can be a better solution for more separation.

Sony uses Multi Terminal. It may look like a micro USB but a micro USB cannot trigger a Sony camera. Sony camera can be connected and charge with micro USB but the camera trigger function will be lost if the extension cable is use.

In this case, must find an another extension cable male/female, for the other connection, which is not like USB. I can not find the name of the other connector.
