Apart from long exposure photography it also benefits from far lower noise than base 100 iso images for still life photography. I cannot determine how many shots are taken for each iso, but it increases the lower you go. This could be done in post on any camera, but it is nice to have in camera.

Yes I noticed that ISO 50 shoots quickly compared to ISO 6.

It would be nice to know how many shots the camera takes at each of these extended low ISO settings.

Finally, how would you do this in post if using another camera?

Affinity Photo makes it very easy. Use the New Stack option in the File menu.

It can even align the images if you shoot a burst hand held.

So I would take a burst of ten or more images at ISO 160 (lowest available ISO in Fuji X current generation cameras), then stack all of them to get an image equivalent to ISO 6?

$54.99 on the Affinity website, with a free trial option too. Maybe I'll try it.

Basically the camera takes a bunch of images and merges them, to get the effect of a very slow film speed, such as ISO 6.

I tried this briefly on my fp L.

For some things, such as motion in water, it can serve an artistic purpose.

I don't think he can Robin. I'll try to explain though. He was calculating what a good exposure should be, based on the ISO setting and aperture, and he got about .2 seconds, rather than 2 seconds, which is the actual setting Tom used to shoot that photo at ISO 6 with his camera. Ted (xpatUSA) was asking what weridness/trickery is at play, and how the image can not be overexposed, since it was exposed for like ten times longer than it should have been.
