Shutter Release Half Press Focus Problem?

I've been using my recently acquired Fujifilm Black Limited Edition X100S, when going out and about, while leaving my Silver X100S at home. I've been having a hard time to get the center box to turn green, indicating focus, when half pressing the shutter release. I also have back button focus set up and that works flwalessly. I've been shooting mostly at f2 or f2.8, and I am only using the center focus point with the box set to the largest size. There is a B+W XS-Pro UV filter on the lens and a Fujifilm branded soft release on the shutter button. The soft release is part of the Limited Edition kit. I didn't seem to have this problem when I first got this X100S last week, so I'm wondering if it's a setting I may have changed or something else.

No, I checked that and it is in AF. I also ran a test in the house focusing on a couple of water bottle labels with both X100Ss set at f2.8. I was about five feet away and my Silver X100S instantly focused with a half press every time; 10 out of 10. My Black X100S instantly focused on 8 out of 10 tries. which is far better than what it was doing earlier today and yesterday. As you can see, my Silver X100S has a third party soft release that is similar to the Fuji one on the Black X100S, although the one of the Silver X100S sits higher because it has a couple of o-rings and the threads are cone shaped to work with Fuji and Leica bodies.

I don’t own that model but maybe try Fuji X Acquire and back up the settings from the one that is working as expected. Then restore to the one that isn’t.  As far as I know that is possible.  If the same model.

That would be a good idea and they are both identical except for the body color, but the the X100S is too old to use with X-Acquire.
