Picked up an used 18-55, quick sharpness test
9

I picked up an used 18-55 from a local camera store. The lens just feels so good on my X-T3. I came across this scene when walking back to the car with lots of different colors and textures. Handheld at f8 the lens did really well. I feel like I have a true winner here.

Yes, at 18mm the 18-55 is great. And the best is that AF conistency is bearable with the X-T3. With my X-T20 is was hit and miss.

I tried to get some photos of my son as he was crawling in the living room this morning. Wide open the lens is very acceptable. I like that its 2.8 at 18 and 3.2 at 23, enough for some separation.

It's a great lens and the photo is good too. It was my main lens on a XT3 and it always gave me excellent images. I have now got a 16-55/f2.8, but I kept the 18-55. To be frank, at about f5.6-f9 I see little discernible image quality (IQ) difference between the two lenses at normal viewing on a PC monitor.

I still use the 18-55 on my XE4 for its IQ, flexibility and relative small package.  Enjoy it.

Nice shot.  A reasonably light and compact, high quality, and reasonably priced zoom, the 18-55mm is one of the reasons I changed from Sony APS-C mirrorless to Fuji.

IMO Sony still does not have a APS-C zoom that meets the above criteria.   From them, you can get small and crappy, or expensive and heavy.  Or (better still, for them anyway) just throw in the towel and go full frame.

Enjoy your new used lens!

of my images are taken with this lens - bought it with X-E1 several years ago.

I have other lenses , but they are more for special situations - this lens sits on my camera when I travel or just walk.   10-24 is great for traveling/landscapes/indoors. 55mm is great for portraits. 55-200 is OK ... but 18-55 is the lens I use. IQ is very good also for big prints.

AF is not extremely fast, but this is not a lens for sports or BIF - enjoy and use !

The 18-55 is perfectly fine for just about all my wide to regular zoom shots. I don't shoot weddings or anything really in real low light. I need a zoom lens, a portrait lens and a speedlite with trigger to complete my kit.

I am very tempted to get the Viltrox 56 1.4, the reviews regarding the optical quality for portrait work was really good price wise.

The wide angle on the lens is amazing. This is a long exposure of a water feature in a local park I took tonight. I wouldn't hesitate to print this at A2 size no problem.

The XE1 and this lens basically sold me on Fuji quality.  Now using it on an XT4 and the IQ hasn't diminished with the added mp.

This 18-55 and the X-E1 were my go-to Fuji kit for years.  Still have both, but I long term loaned them to my youngest, in the hope that someday she'll graduate from the phone to something better.

Lovely image! Just the right amount of motion blur in the water, in my opinion.
