I love this camera. It's not perfect of course but it gets very close in terms of compact travel zoom and for the price it's great. Possibly the IQ from similar cameras from LUMIX are a bit nicer and you get a bunch of fancy features, but canon is much intuitive and pleasant to use. I'm particularly pleased with its closeups and indoor photos using flash - come out surprisingly good for a tiny camera. Lack of viewfinder is the main let down - hard to use the massive zoom to it's full capacity without it but the tilting screed is fantastic especially for framing macro shots or photographing children. Good for nature macro but because of the huge zoom reach, the lens isn't very fast so you don't get much background blur, specially if you zoom in - but its still pretty good if you can get close to the subject. The video quality is also very good.

The previous iteration of this camera the sx730is almost identical in all ways except doesnt do 4K.

This one is from sx730

Very nice shots.

I just came back from my vacation in Cape Cod and Boston. Currently reviewing the numerous photos taken with the SX740 and other cams. The SX740 is very much an underrated gem.
