?: Canon 50D HSS with Nissin Flash quandary

Ive got a Canon 50d and a Nissin Di700A Flash that id like to use in high speed sync mode.

Both the flash and camera manuals say that HSS is available but I have had zero luck in trying to make them work together with each other.

Ive read several articles, watched a few YouTube videos and Im starting to think it is not attainable with this combo, however, Ive seen a few posts that have stated that it is.

I know this is an outdated combo Im shooting with but Id really like to figure this out.

If you have any suggestions they would be very much appreciated!

Thanks very much for your time and hope to hear from you!

Does the 50D have a flash menu? You can try setting it from there.

The speedlite must be mounted in the hotshoe for HSS.  The 50D's built-in flash cannot enable HSS in an off-camera remote speedlite.

Also check that the 50D is not set for 2nd-curtain sync or other feature incompatible with HSS.
