Sad story

Had a visit from a female sparrow hawk, regular visitor to the bird table!!

She must have been desperate as she attacked a Magpie.

The tussle lasted for 20 mins or so, the magpie escaped from her three times but despite a ferocious attack from the magpie she held on.

Eventually the magpie escaped and she landed on the bird table roof. Another magpie then harassed her.

She then hid in under a bush and was still there some hours later. She died overnight. She weighed about half what she should so I presume she was either old or ill.

A beautiful bird lost, It was a sad day.
